Quick Video of My Custom C36 Exhaust
Figured you guys may wanna see this:
Resonator delete
2.75" straight pipe in place of the resonator
Single chamber race muffler
It was simple, didn't take too long, and pretty cheap. Sounds pretty good I think and the car seems to pull a bit harder on the top end.

Yeah I've got no idea what that is...not the exhaust as the car had the little rattle before the exhaust was put in.
Seems to only do it within the first minute of the car being started, then it goes away. Doesn't seem to make a difference if it's a cold or warm start.
Video was on a warm start.

The website has it listed under the "race" section. Local muffler shop had one kicking around.
Also, the car has all of its cats

Well, it's not WOT, but still gives you an idea. And yes, that nasty rattle is in this video too.

Drwave-the muffler isn't offered in 2.75", so it's the 2.5" muffler with a reducer pipe between the muffler and the straight pipe.
On the outlet side of the muffler (since it's a single outlet) there's a short Y pipe to let me keep the two stock tips. I was initially worried about having that Y right at the end of the system but it doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

It doesn't feel like I've lost any torque; stepping on the gas in 1st gear still makes the ASR light flash like a disco ball. The butt dyno says the car feels more willing to be revved and pulls a bit harder than it used to from 4,000 RPMs and up.
Still, I won't know for sure until I dyno the car.
Waiting on the headers from P1 Performance and then I'm going to track down a Gruppe M CF intake. After I get those two items in the car I'll bring her to the local dyno and see what she does.

Paul that sounds beastly!! I've got a 40 series muffler sitting in my garage doing nothing.....
future mod possibly?? Does it drone at all at cruising speeds/highway at all? I had both magna and the 40 series on my 300E and I could not stand it, the drone was awful. But nice sound man, it sounds like a friggen V8!

Honestly the car is more annoying at 2,000 RPMs in 4th gear around town then it is at 3,500 RPMs on the highway. Lower down in the rev range it's quite "bassy" and the autobox in the car always wants to be in 4th gear. I won't lie, there is a bit of a drone on the highway but it's not bad. I've made a few 2 hour highway trips in the car since having the exhaust done and have been fine.
I'll put it this way-it passes the "girlfriend test" with flying colours. She doesn't think it's too loud under normal driving, on the highway at 80mph we can carry on a normal conversation, and she loves how it sounds when I stand on the gas.

Thats exactly what I was implicating, "The Girlfriend Test" haha. Thats a huge factor for me as the drone would only be about a quarter as annoying as my GF breaking my ***** about it. I will really have to consider popping the 40 series on my "soon to be" C36, just got some new nozzles for the Tig, it'll be fun.
Also you might want to look into some sound deadening to really keep out the road noise and the little bit of drone that exists. Elemental Designs has some good stuff, and at $1.00-$3.50 per sq foot you can't go wrong.
