Wanted to see what people think of the Ventilated Seats
Since moving to Florida, I can't stand that even with the A/C keeping the car cool I find I get a little sweat on my back. I am looking to pickup a E55 soon and just wanted to see how those with ventilated seats like them, do you notice a difference?

I like them. I know a lot of people say they are useless and I agree that you really can't feel them "cooling", but they do help.
Best way to describe it is that your back doesn't get any hotter....lol.
Hope that helps!

My guess is that you currently have MB-Tex which is nothing more than perforated vinyl IMO. I had an 03 E55 that had so-so ventilated seats. I now have an 08 E63 and the ventilated seats seem to work much better.
I think you'll find that as long as your target E55 has leather (which I think they all do) and ventilated seats you'll see a huge improvement. Light colored exterior paint and maximum legal tint would help in FL also.

Brian pretty much summed it up. If you expect them to cool your back, you will be disappointed. Also, they won't do squat unless there is cool air in the interior.

yeah it definitely is worse with the Tex in my crappy little W202 C280. But it also happens in my wife's SLK32, and I know those seats are leather. So basically it doesn't make a big enough difference to pass up a good deal if the car doesn't have.
Thx everyone

I really like mine, you can hear the fan running, and it does cool the seats but not dramatically. But once the interior is cool, there is a big turn around. But there is a big misconception, the fans don't blow air through the seats, instead they suck the heat through the seats and out the back and bottom. Once your understand this, it's a no brainer.

They do help keep you stay comfortable on hot days. They're nowhere near what I had on my Lexis IS where those seats blew cold out and froze your a$$ - bigtime. MB ventilation draws the air in.

For me they do not do squat! I know it is 110 degrees and more, but I do not feel anything. I almost was thinking about taking my car to Mercedes to see if there is something wrong, but I am sure that is just how they are.

I don't think they do much - had my fan replaced and still doesn't seem to make much difference.

the only thing i like about it is i have the windows roll down on a hot day, and the vented seats come on....
i wish the passenger seat would vent too though.... but only the driver comes on when you roll down the windows with the keyless go or key.
i guess it helps a bit if your on a 3 or more hour drive and just keep it on all the time... you won't have back sweat, cause i have a hairy ***.

My M45 that I sold to buy my E55 had amazing cooled seats, on my '06 E55 I think its just a button with three blue lights to fill a space on the dash and make conversation with friends.

I have them & only use them after playing sports, etc....they keep my back cool.
As said above, if you understand that they are not meant to BLOW cold air, they do their job.
That being said, if i get into a brand new 2010 MB with the same option, they work 10x better than my 04 E55.
