MBH X pipe installed.

Installed the MBH X pipe. My first impression was how amazing the quality of this piece is, the welds are a work of art. Also, MBH has been very helpful answering all my questions and delivered faster then I had expected.

Installation didnt take more then 45 minutes, very straight forward and easy to install.
As some of you know I had a complete straight pipe setup before (2ndary + res) The sound was awesome but tends to get raspy at times.
The sound is much more tighter and focused with the X pipe. Its not as loud as the straight pipe, but it sounds amazing.
I didn't notice how much torque I lost with the straight pipe. After installing the MBH X pipe there is a very noticeable increase in torque.

Overall I am VERY happy with the MBH X pipe, and very happy with MBH themselves. Great company to deal with.

Here is a quick video I made tonight.

I will be making more videos as soon as I can.

Here are some pics. Its taken with a blackberry so quality isn't great.

Congrats! I think we need to get the LA modded crew together sometime to do drive-by's so we can all hear each others cars. Perhaps after the ACH cruise...

Sounds awesome!! I went up through upper big tujunga canyon last saturday, but the route to ACH was blocked off.
Caltrans needs to step it up haha.

Subscribing to video!

Just curious if you were to get that setup smogged, it would still pass right?

Haven't had it smoged but it will pass. I still have my primary cats intact.

.
Looks great and slightly less bulky compared to GT Pro which means the stored piece (secondary cats) will take up less garage space.

Nice piece.

I wonder if this piece can be integrated with my current
MBH header and mid-pipe setup. I'm thinking of replacing
the stock resonator.

Thank you.

Do you mean integrating the X pipe to replace your resonators?

You're welcome.

I have to say, I'm interested in the weight savings. That's really important if you are trying to lose some weight. It takes a lot of cumulative weight reductions to add up to an overall weight loss for this car.

Yes.

Right now, my mid-pipes from MBH bolt to the stock resonator.
I want to replace the resonator with an X-pipe without any
cutting, if possible.

Yup, very true. Taking off weight here and there all adds up.
The MBH X pipe weighs around 10lbs less then the stock setup. There is a noticeable increase in torque as well.

Im sure MBH could make a resonator X pipe delete.
I have mine straight piped and I think it sounds great.
I think 1 cut should be made on the passenger side for the resonator delete to bolt on.

Even though I would like to believe your butt dyno that an X pipe makes torque over straight pipes , there are many reputable companies making an after market exhaust with straight pipe (gintani and akrapovich) and IMHO the gains come from the deletion of the secondary cats and not the straight versus X pipe.

The power definitely comes from deleting the 2ndary cats but an X pipe creates more back pressure which helps on bottom end torque. Its not a huge difference but you can tell from switching from a straight to an X pipe.
The Akrapovic system is straight piped, I dont know how much it would effect torque but Im willing to bet Gintanis exhaust makes more power.
The C63 Gintani system is not straight piped there is an X pipe placed further back and closer to the headers.

We do have an optional 3" xpipe designed to fit our mid-section. However the resonator stays in place. If you remove the resonator the sound might become too obnoxious.
