2003 E55AMG
are clk550 really that fast
Hello all i am new to this forum i purchased 2003 E55 AMG 3 weeks ago.
I joined to look for a clk550 that spanked my E55AMG today it was black with no tints...very loud looked stock rear end was very high of the ground, do you run NOS? i thought clk550 ran 14 seconds in 1/4 ? i still can't believe i could not pass him even past 120... please tell me you ran nos so i can feel better about loosing.

If an E55 has the same engine and tranny as a CLK55 AMG of the same vintage, then you are giving up about 20hp to the 550, and a like amount of torque, plus you have two fewer tranny speeds. So on paper you should lose by a bit, but I've never raced a 55 AMG so I don't know if paper equals real life or not.

E55 are well known to have Intercooler issue and the ECU would shut down the boost. If the E55 does not have any issue, then I'm pretty sure the Clk550 is on NOS to be able to keep up. There are no SC kit yet for the 550 engine I believe and so it got to be NOS.

i have made sure my car was checked for intercooler issues before buying as it is a know issue. Must be NOS i did not lose by a lot 2 cars 1st pull and 1 car 2nd pull but i thought i would pass him after 110 but he started to inch away. Mystery

2003 E55AMG
When buying my car 3 weeks ago i took it to a dealer to check for all known issues IC pump etc everything was checked and fixed. i was in Sports mode with ESP off i still stayed a car behind. I thought with E55 power i could easily outrun him even if he got the jump on me... So the guy is not on here? i was hoping to ask him what he has.

Since you say it was loud my guess is that it was a CLK550 with after market exhaust and ecu tune. That should be enough to keep up with an E55 or pull away from one. If not a CLK550 it could have been a CLK 55 AMG with exhaust + ECU tune.
Def not a 63BS, because you wouldve lost by at least 3-4 car lenghts
