Wireless Phone Charger Issues

Anyone else have issues with the wireless phone charger? Mine doesn’t seem to work sitting on the rubber mat. It works if I remove it. I have IPhone 17 Pro in an Apple case and it charged just fine in the S Class.

Wireless chargers can be finicky, especially if the phone is in a case and there's a mat or something else in addition. Another issue is the protruding camera lenses that prevent the phone from lying flat. There have been software updates at times to fix issues with newer phones. Mine is of course an older generation, but FWIW it no longer works with my iPhone 16 Pro. It worked fine with my iPhone XS I had before. TBH, I've mostly given up on wireless chargers, unless they are MagSafe. I had to replace the wireless charger on my desk with a MagSafe wireless charger, because the old one I had also didn't work anymore with my iPhone 16. If they work in a car, then great, but I often have to use USB in rental cars as the wireless charger doesn't work. It's especially problematic in cars, and even more so in firmer riding ones such as the GT, because the phone bounces and moves around.

Kind of disappointing. It worked fine in my S Class.

I don’t mind putting it directly on the plastic but it just moves around. I may try to put down some painter’s tape or something else less innocuous to keep it from sliding around.

It kinda is yes, however I've used my wireless charger maybe one or two times. The only times I really need to charge the phone is when I'm using CarPlay and because my car only has wired CarPlay, the phone is plugged in and charging at the time. However, it is annoying if the wireless charger doesn't work when using wireless CarPlay. Kinda defeats the purpose if you have to plug in the phone to charge, or not have it deplete the battery while using CarPlay.

It's definitely related to the case your phone sits in. When I had a 2024 GT 55, I could rarely get my phone-on-case to charge, either with or without the rubber mat. In my Honda Ridgeline- no problem. I'm picking up a 2026 GT 63 in a couple of weeks, and I expect the same problem. My case is a Torras magnetic charging case with a built in stand, so I doubt there's any hope. If o need to charge it while driving, I keep a 6" USB C cord plugged into the USB C port in the center console.
