I’m a little confused at the recommended tire pressures. The door card lists the tire size correctly and shows an even 46/46 front and rear, which I’ve always taken as the worst-case value.
The gas cap doesn’t list the tire size for the summer tire listing and the max/worst case is different. I’m a little hesitant to use the gas cap door because I find it hard to believe the 20 and 21 inch wheels would have the same recommend pressures. They do separate the recommended all-season pressures by size. I certainly don’t want or need 46 PSI but dropping it to the low 30s seems kind of low.
The door sticker is a regulation thing in the US and only lists what's deemed as the safe pressure, which usually coincides with the max load pressure. It harks back to the Firestone tread separation issues in the 90s. Apparently Americans can't be trusted to properly adjust their tire pressures based on load. Tire pressure is not a function of the size of the tire. It's a function of load and the load rating of the tires. For the 20 and 21 inch summers to have the same recommended pressure is not unusual. You could check what the load rating is on the 20s and 21s respectively. The load rating is how much load a tire can hold at the max pressure listed on the sidewall, usually around 50 psi. Lowering the pressure will proportionally lower the load the tire can carry, so it's all about setting the tire pressure so that the load is correct.
Not sure why your door sticker says 46/46, but the fuel door sticker lists 46/48 for the max load pressure. Either way, neither one is the pressure you should be using as you likely won't drive faster than 155 mph and carry a dead body in the trunk. The normal load pressure is what you should use for normal driving with you plus an optional passenger and largely empty trunk and speeds below 155 mph. So that would be 31/31. If you load up the trunk to the vehicle's gross weight, then increase the pressures to 33/35 as shown on the fuel door sticker. Use the pressures on the door sticker if you like to be punished with an unnecessarily stiff ride.
FWIW, here's mine. 19s and 20s have the same recommended pressures.
