AMG GT C 2020 – Ceramic brakes swap to Steel?
I’m looking at buying a 2020 AMG GT C (mileage 60k) that comes with the carbon-ceramic brake option. I’ve read mixed things about their longevity and costs, and I’m wondering:
- Has anyone here actually swapped from ceramic to steel rotors, and if so, how did it work out (fitment, cost)?

One option in Girodisc: Find Your Parts (girodisc.com)
Carbon-ceramic rotors can last the lifetime of the vehicle under normal street use, with brake pads being the only routine replacement cost.
However, if the car is tracked—or if the rotors have been professionally evaluated with a Carboteq tool and confirmed to be at their end of life—it may be more cost-effective to convert to iron rotors, provided you don’t mind the additional brake dust.
