They don't even have our car listed on their website.

I don't think reviews on a tune mean Much at all.

So why risk it?

Yep, would seem like pissing into the wind for the sake of it

I hate to say it... but, I've seen good AND bad reviews from just about every tuning company. It's all part of doing business. You do realize that just about NONE of the tuners build their own tunes from scratch, right? Most fine tune, but, I'm not aware of any US based company which has completely decompiled the ecu code and built their tuning maps from ground zero...

Let us all know how the tune is then. I have never heard of them either and Ive tuned all 10 of my AMG's. And while Im loyal to one brand, I do know of many others who have a track record and measurable results.

We all know the definitions of the tune are not generated from in house US tuners. They buy the definitions and then make tweaks.

Out of curiousity, spoke to Renntech (US) this week as the first step in my own path toward a tune. The 800# elephant is obviously their premium pricing. They claim to do all of their own programming in-house, superior customer service, reputation with MB, etc.. But at the end of the day, they also admit that MB warranty is still an issue. Are they worth a 30% premium just for the tune? I don't know. And DP's (not that I want them) another $5k? Seriously?

I've not tuned a TT car before. One has to place a lot of faith in the company/code one selects to be the heart's 'pacemaker'. None are nearby me. RennTech clearly knows their AMG's. The story of Weistec damaging a GTS on the lift and hiding the fact makes me uncomfortable. Eurocharged? Dunno...but also want a tune.

Piece of mind is certainly a factor when operating on the brain lol. I think renntech plays hard off that impression. But it's 2017 and it's not 2000, and I don't believe premium is what it used to mean. My dealer sells renntech, but was clear it was better to do offsite.

Eurocharged is my recommendation. Thousands of tunes, big numbers and support at a reasonable dollar.

@06032, PM Steve at Dime. I guarantee that you will be more than happy with your tune. Dime developed it from scratch on their in-house GT. Also don't forget that it's Steve that founded Weistec before leaving to create Dime.

Heck, they even have their own Dime GT: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...epower-amg-gt/

I wonder what the price of their tune is? Seems 1300-1600 is the sweet spot. Anything more seems to be "premium" pricing... aka "nice car tax."

I got mine for $1500 at Dime with a discount back in June 2016. I know it retails for $2,499 but I'm sure they'll work it out with you.

I'd have to agree that $1500 sounds like the sweet spot for a moderate, 601hp ECU tune. I've never been one to sacrifice quality for money but when the map seems to be well known and the tunes fairly generic....still, the thought of blowing up this engine because of a bad one....

Thanks, I'll look into Dime as well. Father's Day sale anyone?

LOL, just got an email back... here is their response: "Sorry we never lower our prices, they hold the retail market value of $2549."

Sorry Dime... I never pay "retail market value" prices, therefore, I'll not be using your services.

Nah, not worth it, but, thanks. Getting a generic, crappy email like that tells me all I need to know about the company.

Sorry, I wish they priced their tune more competitively.

Although, I really wonder who's the idiot that responded to your email. It can't be Steve because I know he keeps an eye on the forum.

Well, that statement pretty much sealed the deal for me. Coming from a Lamborghini Gallardo to the AMG GTS I am all too familiar with the "Lambo Tax"... apparently that is a thing too over here.

Oh yes it is. Just go look at Renntech's website. 5k for downpipes. 3.5k for a tune. Brabus Piggyback is 9k. These people are on crack.

There are still tuners who charge fair prices though... Renntech is well known to price over the top and yet they have their buyers (I'm not one of them).

Of course a GTS tune, in reality, is not something that is in high demand (relatively speaking vs the likes of the M157 or even the M177 engines).

But yes they are on crack

How about a 'Group Buy' proposal to Renntech, Eurocharged, Dime, etc. get a fair volume price? I'd be happy to throw my hat (ECU) in and even pick up the phone. Separate posting?

Eurocharged will be #1 to jump on it because.. that's what they do. They offer excellent pricing. Dime won't do it because nothing good will come out of it for them. It's a race to the bottom and EC will always be the cheapest.

I'm sure if you contact Jerry or Dave at EC they'll offer you a very good price regardless of a group buy.

I'm saying this because I offered a group buy for the CF airboxes from Dime and they refused because it'll kill sales afterwards.
