It sure would be fun to see that mess.
I didn't start this thread to slight anybody here. I made no mention of Porsche, that was someone else. I'm not rubbing anything in anybody's face. I simply thought that since I had difficulty finding a GTR allocation, maybe someone else out there is going through the same thing. And maybe they would appreciate a little help—an open allocation. There is a thread on Rennlist dedicated to people helping others find allocations. They are working together to help each other find cars. I figured I would repay the Mercedes community here by serving up my spot for a GTR without having to jump through the hoops. There's an AMG GTR thread on Rennlist too, btw. And it's pretty civil.

Anyway, think what you want. At the end of the day there's another open GTR spot out there if someone is looking. That's all this thread was supposed to be.

They are civil cause you didnt litter their board with all these questions. Anyways I wish you the best in the Pcar world, I have had 5 Turbos, a GT3, and a few others and they are the best of the best in the sports car world IMHO when it comes to overall character and performance coupled with value and practicality.

As for the GT3- you are getting that car to drive in the SF city areas? If you thought the GTR was going to be a interesting drive out there wait till you get into the high reving normally aspirated engine that you can never maximize in downtown SF.... Unless you are running a 2nd car or just going to use the GT3 for weekend runs??

Dude, it's a car forum. Its' where you talk about cars and ask questions and help each other out. Or, well... not, apparently.

Yes, just for weekends and getting out of the city. I'm stupid. But not stupid enough to drive a GTR or a GT3 around downtown SF. I wouldn't drive ANY car in downtown SF. But hey... I do see the occasional exotic. Two days ago I saw a Performante. There was a Ferrari Enzo parked on my block a few weeks ago. I see an R8 or three every now and then. Lots of Porsche 911s. I did see an AMG GTS in the FiDi a month or so ago. Lots of other AMGs. A few Huracans and a Gallardo. A bunch of Jag F-Types. And so on. I saw a McLaren 570s and a 720s too. They're out there.

My biggest concern is scraping, since the GT3 is lower than the GTR, even with the front axel lift.

Funny. That parade of vehicles goes by my house every week. I live on Mulholland Highway. (Jay Leno also drives by on the weekends. Always something unusual.)

Porsche doesn't have a dark grey color for the GT3. If they did, I would probably go for that. They have something called Agate Grey, which I thought I would like. But I saw a bunch of Agate Grey cars in person and guess what... it's not grey. It's brown.
Agate Grey has always been one of my favourite Porsche colours. If you think it looks “brown” you need to see an Ophthalmologist stat.

As a GT3 owner, you likely will regret driving it in the City. You still need to get in and out of SF on the weekends, those hills are going to devour your front lip and cringing will become second nature every time you hear that all too familar scrape.

Tell that to everybody who calls it Agate Brown. It's brown. Even the dealer said yeah, it's brown everybody says that. It's a running joke apparently. Photos are misleading. Why are you trying to start yet another argument? It's like y'all are bored or something. Go worry about your own car's color instead of mine.

Here's a thread on the very forum you just referenced where people talk about how it's brown: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8481...gate-grey.html

Brown. This is how it looks in person.

Joke about it now we'll see who's laughing after one year of GT3 ownership for you.

You're really going to love having having to wind up the engine past 5000 rpm to get any meaningful torque especially up those 45 degree hills.

You'll also come to appreciate how strong your left leg is getting as you inch your way up towards a stop sign at the top of a hill.

Sticking your nose out into oncoming traffic will bring so much joy just to get your ride horizontal.

why so harsh? Asking questions is no crime last I checked. That’s exactly what forums are for. Not everyone is as knowledgeable or smart as you. Maybe he just found a better car👍

I'm test driving someone's GT3 RS here in SF later this week. If an RS gets around town ok, the new GT3 will do just fine. And if a Performante can get around ok, I'm sure a GT3 will too.

What else you got for me? Wanna talk about the brand of shoes I wear or how your watch tells time better than mine?

☐ Rekt ☑ Not Rekt
My favorite grey is the Grigio Telesto ... that’s what I got my GT3 PTS in.

Yeah, that is actually my GT3 in Agate and I can tell you it is 100% grey. Not sure what color the OP is mistaking it for...

I love the Miami blue.

You should really consider the warnings about the car only making power at higher RPMs. I would actually rather have a 911 GTS or a 911T over the 911 GT3 for street driving. The only big advantage is that they don't depreciate much.

GT3 RS and Performante aren't stick shift.

You specifically mentioned you want a manual GT3.

Looks like the hundreds of questions aren't improving your knowledge base.

Good luck with what you decide to buy, but in my personal experience I would stick with the GTR, try to get a test drive in one before you throw your allocation.

OP, keep your GT3 for a year, scrape up the front plastic lip like others said(you won't but its cheap to change if you do), and if you don't like it, sell it, probably close to what you bought it for. Or, buy a GTR, don't like it and lose a lot of money on resale to buy something else.
God forbid the OP asks questions to help him decide on a car, what was he thinking asking on a forum?? And then he decides to go with a different car, crucify him.. SMH. And for a Mod to complain, really?
OP, just like members on RL said, buy and enjoy whatever decision you make, they are both special cars and you will enjoy either choice.
Word of advice, if you go with a GT3, Miami Blue has to be seen in person to really get the color, pictures show so many different shades. I wanted it because I thought the GT3 needed some color, look across MB or Porsche(or any) dealerships and tell me what you see? white, silver and black.

So true...If there are any special colors on the showroom floor, it's most likely one with a steep markup or very high MSRP. Anyways OP, head over to Porsche of Livermore if you want to see a GT3/GT3 RS in Lava Orange, chalk, and white. All three are in the showroom floor. They might also have a Miami blue carrera s, just to give you an idea of the color in real life. They're asking a ridiculous markup on the GT3/GT3 RS (upwards of 50k), but at least you can see the colors.

I’m going to take a different approach to all of his posts. I have watched him posting on Rennlist and here.

He he is complete full of it and not getting either car I bet.

I am sure your next post will be should I get a GT3 RS instead of the GT3 or should I get a GT2 RS.

You said you you are willing to pay an ADM why don’t you have your car yet?

oh wait, because it is missing or has one option that you don’t like. Your posts remind me of the cars and coffee guys saying that’s only a P1, not a la Ferrari blah, blah. Then they drive off in their IS 300.

I feel bad for the salespeople that had to deal with this nonsense as well as the other AMG, Porsche customers that will miss allocations over this BS.
