Still waiting for my build Allocation
I placed my order in June. Now it's mid to late August and my Dealer is still waiting for an allocation and build date!
i knew it wouldn't be instantaneous but I am getting a little annoyed. I've seen cars with my specs showing up across the country at other Deslers. Should I keep waiting or see if my Dealer can secure a car fro another state?
At this rate , I'll have a January build with March delivery.

If you need any help shoot me a PM and I'll talk to the GM of my dealer for you to see if there is a car out there that meets your specs.
Good luck!

Where are you located?
I lucked out on a newly arrived 2018 GTS. Charlie Sheen custom ordered the spec then bailed out before taking delivery. Everything I wanted except for the Pano roof which isn't a deal-breaker for me.
I can introduce you to my West Coast SA who was easy to work with and generous on the negotiation if you PM me.

I live in New York . I saw a similar spec'ed car with some variants that was out in CA. I'm not sure what shipping would run.
Is it wise to buy buy from someone across country?

I think you need to pay your state tax before the car is registered. So I would pay NYS tax not California taxes.
I dont know the legistics of buying buying a car and having it shipped from another state . Assume it would be dropped somewhere? And it wouldn't be showroom fresh and there's a risk of scratches during shipping.

Discounts? They laughed at me when I asked. They claimed" limited production = NO discounts".
what kind of price off msrp? Should I push them since they're making me wait?

The best way to get a discount is to wait for the cars to get to the dealer and go and just say "Hey I'm the guy standing in front of you right now and this is what I'm offering"

I speced black Exclusive Nappa interior but it does seem a little bland. How us the Dinamica package ? It would at least gave som contrasting top stitch and contrasting textures.
will this help or hurt resale if I want to trade in the car after a few years

FWIW, two LA dealers are marking up 18 GTS and GT roadsters by $30000 and $20000 over MSRP respectively. Obviously, location matters which is why it pays to look out of state.

It's worth calling around. The best option is to negotiate off a GTS that's on the floor. Pay in cash. That worked for me.

Finally! After waiting over 3 months , I got a Purchase Order Number and a build date.
Build is December 20th? . How long does it take after Build to delivery ? Months? I guess depends on the snow situation . Better start making room in the garage

Congrats! Should be a great car. In my experience, Mercedes builds them better each model year.

I'm not sure how they expect to remain competitive if they can't deliver cars in a quick fashion. I understand the car is good but 7 months from Order , build, delivery?
There are brand new Mclarens, Porsche and Corvettes sitting on dealer lots.
I drive by a Mclaren dealership on the way to work every day . If one of my friends hadn't gotten one weeks ago, I'd be all over it. I don't want to be. A copy cat and steal his thunder.
