Rear plate mounting

I'm sure someone else has thought of this. But can those two bulbous attachments at the rear plate be removed? The ones that take up the space when not using a Euro plate. I assume if they are taken off, you're left with two holes there. Maybe the holes can either be filled or like... maybe snap-in plugs can be painted to match the body?

I just don't like the look of those things.

Those are required by US regulations. They are not present in European version.

Id worry more about the front plate screwing up the appearance of the grill

Front plate ruins the look of the Panamerican grill. I have a tow hook front plate in the trunk for safety checks or in case I get pulled over by the popo.

Oh, they don't come off? It's a totally different bumper? Why are they required—for rear-end collisions?

And yeah, I wish I lived in a stat that didn't require a front plate. But I might just leave it off and keep it in the car just in case. A fix-it ticket here is like $25. And from what I've heard, cops don't really go after people for it. They'll cite you if they pull you over for something else though.

That's the way to do it. I would just say my car was recently detailed or in a car show and I forgot to put it back on. Remove the little plastic cover over the tow hook and screw the plate in while the popo watches.

The ticket cost is negligible compared to illegal tint which is like $2xx per window panel!

I would worry more about the absence of front plate if I had a couple cocktails before getting behind the wheel but since I don't drink it's never an issue nor do I condone drinking and driving.

Well that answers that lol. I'll be keeping them on. Seems like a huge hassle.
