2017 AMG GT
I think all of us AMG guys also love Porsche and recognize the performance, everyday utility and value they offer. Many of us have or had owned Porsches.

When I was a kid my life long dream was to own a 911. Well nothing is perfect. In my early 20s the first 911 I could afford was a 996 just out of warranty. I bought a one owner car that looked immaculate and had 11k miles. Right after I purchased it, I joined the Porsche forums and learned about rear main seal leaks and intermediate shaft bearing failures and the very very high numbers of 996 cars that had imploding engines. Porsche mostly took care of original owners but used car owners were stuck with 20-30k bills.

I couldn't even sleep at night for months. So I saved a little more money and traded it for a 996 that had 1.5 years factory warranty left. Then I finally could afford to buy a new Porsche. That was a special day indeed.

I never did troll the Porsche boards and act like an *** hat though.

[QUOTE=amgfan1;7074912][COLOR="Blue"]Good morning Dick,

Please accept the challenge.

This is an AMG forum and as such, Challenge accepted sir Asshat! Can you drive in a straight line with your spirited GTR ? Certainly that will not affect value

1/2 mile for titles. Or are you such a ***** you can't. ( I forgot you fit in a 914)

Dick, Flash, and Shamu why so harsh Bubbas?

Are you SCARED of my Dodge Dick? It is just a Dodge and AMERICAN made muscle Mopar car! You have an AMG GT so you can surely kick my Dodge by the curb right? Oh well shows you are all talk and can't walk the walk. Oh well, poor Dick. You can't even afford to buy a new car cover and soliciting for a used one? That's like buying a used underwear for you to use. LOL

Maybe I'll buy an AMG Smart and maybe, just maybe you'll race that one huh?

Yes. GT-C seems like the best fit for daily driver. While I like the roadster I am thinking coupe.
The car is definitely a better looking car than the SL but the SL is also very practical with its hard top. It's also faster than expected. A solid 4 sec. car without the drama and with all the creature comforts. Wife loves the convertible and the ABC suspension is easy on her back.
She had a couple of spine surgeries so this is priority over everything else.

Hello Dick,

Hope all is well you. I feel so bad about your AMG GT. Are you serious? You are looking for a "USED" car cover? That's like buying a used underwear for you to use! Don't do that on a GT!

Here I searched the web for you and there are CHEAP ones you can buy but "brand new", NOT used.

LINK:
http://www.carautocovers.com/2017/me...pe-2-door.html

If you need a loan to afford a car cover, just let me know and would be happy to buy you an aftermarket car cover. By the way PORSCHE car covers run minimum about $300.00, so your car cover is really affordable.

Either way I'm sure you will make the right decision.

Thanks again for all of your factory insight.

I'm also keen to see the GTC coupe in the flesh and see/feel the difference compared to the GTS!

The wider body has sparked my curiosity haha

"As I will never sell this car.... " THAT is the single best endorsement of the GT that I have seen yet. Time to ramp up the effort to convince the spouse that this is THE car. She said if I got a true high performance car to make certain that it is small enough to bury me in. No respect...no respect at all....

2017 base GT cars should be on sale on with deep discounts. The 2018 base GT have the menacing front grill like that of the GT-R. Good for the standard GT buyers but no differentiation if someone is in the market for GT-R.

Another example of product dilution?

And then the *43 owners now get the ADA base driving academy privileges too? Just WOW.

With a decent discount, I can definitely make do with a base.

Went to strip yesterday. First day of year and track was newly surfaced. I hadn't run in a couple years and only ran twice. Bad R/T.

No traction below 60

Here's best slip.

seems like you know your car game. but i wonder, how can you simply get a 911R when you only have GT3??? 918 owners have first right, then goes to multiple TurboS owners. Thats basically it on the allocation. I wonder how you can simply get a 911R that easy and trash talk that much. Everyone understands how good Porsche cars are (911GTs). No one here is talking trash about Porsche.

You have to be a 918 Spyder owner to own a 911R. You are absolutely correct. Get the idea why I have a 911R.

I have a 2014 991 GT3 whose engine was voluntarily changed. My 2016 981GT4, 2016 991 GT3RS, and 2016 911R are all part of my "Entitlement" because I have my 2015 918 Spyder.

The VIP Program by PORSCHE applies to USA continent only. NO such VIP Program was offered in any other part of the globe. Those who got 911R here in the USA either owns a 918 Spyder due to the VIP Program or someone who bought from the secondary market with "Premium" pricing over MSRP. In Europe and all other continents, the hard core and loyal PORSCHE buyers/owners got first dibs. I hope this enlightens you better.

I love BOTH the PORSCHE 911 GT cars and the AMG "Naturally Aspirated" ones especially.

I didnt want to run thru the entire thread but you have a GT (not S) and are not tuned???

Strong numbers if so from a power perspective. I dont really care about reaction time as much since Im more of a roller racer.

Dropped 15mm spacers on today. This should have been setup from factory IMO. Staying with stockers for now...,

Any last minute Has or renntech lowering recommendations??? Leaning toward a more plush ride quality.

Good fun at strip today.

Way better track and lowered psi to 30. Still could not get a good 60'.

And Missed it by .21 mph...but very pleased.
