Drag Times
Where are all the drag times guys?
I ran last night. In the 11s first run try. 3rd try yielded 11.386 @ 124 and was "too fast" and got sent back to tech to discuss it. Need a fire jacket and a cage to go faster than 11.5. Exemption for no cage if your car is stock. Guy told me to claim my car was stock after my future tune. Aftermarket exhaust or intake or whatnot and the exemption goes away.
Got a fire jacket.
Fought with 60 foot times. Ran 2.1s and even a 2.2. My SLK would do 2.0 all night with skinnier tires, worse weight distribution and less power. Couldnt figure out how to scrub off all the gooey track junk stuck on my tires. Tried a burnout in sport mode. No luck. Tried to shut off the traction control but it wouldnt shut off fully. Took me a couple runs to figure out i had to hold the button down for a loooong time. Then tried a brake stand with the traction control off. No luck. Even with traction control fully off, my car seemed to think that was a bad idea. Avoided the water and tried just hammering the throttle on the dry burnout area. Didnt burn off the crap enough. Eventually, drove through the water with traction control off, got the wheels spinning by hitting the gas and just let it rip for 20 feet or so. Wound up with a 1.79 60 foot time! The time next to me was a P85D. He was doing 1.70s on most launches. I was satisfied to be within 1/10 of a high power 4 wheel drive electric car.
Cut horrible lights all night. Trying to stage and get launch mode set and pay attention to the lights and time it was hard. My car declined launch mode a couple times. Tried to launch without it, but that was slow.
Next time I'll use manual shifting to keep my car in 1st or 2nd during the burnout so it doesnt shift up too high and bog, and focus on cutting a good light.
Ended the night with my best run. 1.8s 60', 11.34 @ 125.
Other cars running this time and speed were all out race prepped, super charged corvettes, race slicks, etc. The GTS is awesome!
Oh, and it was fun to blow buy that Tesla at the end of the track, running 10mph more than he was.

Thanks for posting, great times. Is you GT equipped with the Dynamic Plus and if so what tires are you running?

Great time and mph
I have the Eurocharge tune on mine. Bur, haven't been able to get to the track.
I'll need a helmet and jacket?
I was told that with the tune we should be slightly dipping into the 10's I'll believe it when I see it.
Thanks again for posting

Great results and sounds like you had a fun night! It's crazy to see how your stock car runs faster than my dyno tuned SLS (515whp). The GTS is a serious machine.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
Who knows CED, maybe your DA was worse than mine. I think my car can run a tenth or two faster, there is definitely room for improvement. I think thoroughly burning off the crap the tires pick up, playing with pressures, and staying later into the night would all help.

The 60' time is key. The Renntech and Weistec times in dragtimes are 1.70 and 1.75. I felt my 1.79 was good.

And yes, your 1.7 60 ft seems great to me. I had to run Toyo R888's with 325's in the rear to hit 1.79 in my SLS.

That's flying in a stock GT! Congrats!I didn't go much quicker than that with Wesitec tune and down pipes. The car is a handful to launch hard without wheel hop.

Thanks jrcart! You with all those crazy AMGs would know!
My car really hasnt had much wheel hop issue. The thing seems to launch pretty well. I was hopi g it would run well, but was actually surprised with how fast it was. Im wondering what a Weistec tune will do.

Jrcart got rid of his GT-S due to first year manufacturing issues...
I have GT on order and sold the CLS. We need to get together again soon.
A local car with downpipe, tune and stock tires was able to do 10.78

I got rid of my GT-S, it was a piece of crap, good riddance! Worst built AMG I have ever owned. I had more problems with my GT-S Edition 1 in the first 6 months of ownership than I had with all of my previous AMG's combined. I am still trying to get into the 8's in the quarter mile with my CLK, I'm about 1/10th of a second off

And 8.xx pass in the CLK would be EPIC!!! keep us posted

Yes, we definitely need to hook up I've been so busy with the purchase of our new house and totally gutting it (total nightmare). I haven't gone to a single car event in months. I do plan on adding a new car to the garage this year I'm thinking Italian or British

Congrats on the new house.
Let me see if I am close: British: Maclaren 570? Italian: 458? Those are the only 2 (low 200s) worthy of an upgrade over the SLS.
The wait till November for the GT is going be tough...
OP: sorry to hijack your thread.

The two I'm looking at are the McLaren 650s and the 458 Spyder, I will keep the SLS as a stable mate (I now have a four car garage). I drove the 458 Spyder for a few hours and just fell in love. I've never driven the 650s, but sat passenger for a bit and was very impressed. I can't do anything until Sep-Oct, so I have time to hunt and test drive a bunch of stuff.

If and when they offer a Black Series version I might be on board for one of those depending on it's specs. AMG has really left a bad taste in my mouth over the past year or so. Delays with delivery on my GT-S followed by it breaking down and needing to be towed on my way home from the dealership the day I took delivery and then needing to be towed again 2 weeks later follow by problems with the exhaust valves and front suspension plus all kinds of noises and pops and ticking....the car was complete garbage and certainly not worth $150K. Throw on top of it that I ordered a 2016 GLA45 last fall as winter daily driver for here in Chicago and they did not deliver that car or any 2016 GLA45 until this spring, it was delayed well over 3 months. Now add in all the fake AMG's "43's" they are now offering and I am pretty much fed up. I drove a new Porsche GT3 RS at the Porsche test track in Atlanta a couple weeks ago and I am in the process of buying one of those right now to replace my GT-S Edition 1. AMG has lost their direction and they are simply a marketing company now. I have spoken to current and former AMG employees and they all say that the GT is the worst product launch in AMG history and they have seen more problems per vehicle than any other AMG ever sold, keep in mind they have not even built that many so that is a really bad statistic.

I can understand your feelings with the GTS and the problems you had but saying that Porsche is better is really a stretch at best.
At least the engine did not catch fire and there was not a mass recall and a full engine replacement.
Porsche did the right thing and handled owners for the most part correctly but comparing both debacle, Porsche has nothing on Mercedes

Well he was addressing the build issues you had and you changed gears to track times, just sayin.
Gt3 rs is a 250k track car, but I would venture that the GT-r would stay close on the track at 75k less, as I believe it will be way more than stickers...we shall soon see.
The GTS is after all identical in 1/4 mile.
