Just ordered my 2017 GT... few questions!

Hi. Sony here! Long time listener, first time caller.

I schlep around in a '12 C63 coupe now and after enjoying the world of NA for a bit (and unfortunately the costs associated to squeeze HP/TQ out of NA), I'm ready to get back into a FI car (and tune the daylights out of her). I was looking at the C63 S coupe at first then thought, "YOLO" and placed a deposit on a '17 GT.

Here are the specs:

GT $111,200
896 Brilliant Blue Metallic $720
601 Black Nappa/Dinamica Exclusive - Yellow $3,100
B26 B26 AMG Aerodynamic Package: Larger Front Splitter & Side Sill $2,850
B26 : AMG Aerodynamics Package
U94 : Fixed Rear Spoiler
H21 AMG Black Piano Lacquer Trim $750
L6G AMG Performance Full DINAMICA Steering Wheel
P60 AMG Exterior Night Styling $750
U78 AMG Performance Exhaust System $1,800
260 Rear Deck Lid Badges - Delete Code
318 318 Exclusive Interior Package: Nappa Exclusive Leather, Black $3,600
61U : Black Dinamica Roof Liner
877 : Ambient Lighting
389 389 KEYLESS-GO® Package: KEYLESS-GO® $900
P17 : KEYLESS-GO Package Code
871 : HANDS-FREE ACCESS
889 : KEYLESS-GO
416 Panorama Roof $1,260
479 AMG Adaptive Suspension $1,500
659 19"/20" AMG Cross-Spoke Forged Wheel - Black $2,200
810 Burmester® Premium Sound System $1,300
993 993 Lane Tracking Package: Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist $875
22P : Lane Tracking package code
234 : Blind Spot Assist
476 : Lane Keeping Assist

On with the questions:

1. Does LSD differ from the GT to GT S (mechanical vs electronic)?

2. Am I correct when saying that there are no mechanical differences between GT and GT S and that a tune on each car should net the same results?

3. Are the CCBs on front & rear, or front only?

4. Anyone find a solution to getting rid of the headlight reflector for US spec'd cars?

Last question is how I'm keeping sane waiting until November for delivery...

Thanks all!

Nice move up from the "C" Sony.

I can answer
2. No mechanical engine difference and tune will be identical.
3. Ceramic fronts only. GT stock front brakes an inch or so smaller.

Waiting is crazy right? That being said I'd rather break in when it's not 100 degrees.

Where are you from ?

Thanks bud! Should've known that MBUSA would charge 9-frickin' grand for front only brakes.

I'm in Orange County, CA where the summer/winter spread is about 20 degrees and where we're next to the largest body of water yet suffer from drought. Damn salt.

Congrats on the new whip order!

#4 there are aftermarket companies that would customize your headlights. Check out http://oneightynyc.com/services-2/custom-headlights/ but they are not cheap

"U78 AMG Performance Exhaust System $1,800"
I got an extra one laying in my garage

Congrats on the order. If you can swing it, the GT is an awesome upgrade from the C.
For #1, GT has mechanical and GTS electronic.
I basically have the same car on order and mine is also coming in November.
The wait will be tough as well and I am already lining up my after market parts (wheels, tune, removal of all chrome, downpipes etc...)
I am not sure what you mean by headlight reflector.

Yea I've seen OneEighty's work back in my BMW days. Awesome stuff but you definitely pay to play. The thought of baking and cracking open my own headlights freak me out.

Maybe we could order a euro spec'd set?

Saw your thread about the Meisterschaft. Congrats bud! But if I take yours off your hands... I'll be missing the lil' valve open/close button!

Didn't you have a Sakir F82?

I saw your post like 3 days too late. I would have jumped on it but not sure how to add the button inside. This is crazy because my order is already locked and I cannot change any options.

The GT does not offer Race Mode - so there is another difference.

I believe it does if you order dynamic suspension.

Dynamic suspension not available on base GT so no race mode either. That's the only options you cannot tick to make your GT a GTS.
I am happy to live without those kind of electronics and a simple tune will give you race mode

You are correct it seems. Dog is confusing. You can order #479 3 stage adaptive AMG suspension which I left off as well. Rather do aftermarket sleeves.

I see now what you saying. I wonder how a simple application of black vinyl would look over the orange part.

The DOG shows that the CCB brakes for either model are both front and rear...at least I see no mention that the CCB are for ONLY front.

But the sleeves are not the dampeners just the springs--- the adaptive suspension works well with the sleeves since the rates change on the springs. I was one of the first to run the KW's over a year ago and I for one am glad I have the options for dampening settings.

Hi guys, i have just joined this forum to ask a couple of questions.

Last Thursday 7th July '16 i went down to my local Mercedes dealership (Mercedes of Leeds) and placed a deposit on an AMG GTs (was having a hard time deciding between the R8 (Huracan in a different body after all) and the GTs, but went with the better looking and more attention seeking GTs and have left a £5k deposit but haven't heard anything back from them yet other than an email this morning saying that they are chasing Mercedes in germany up for a build slot- this can't be right surely? Over a week without a build slot after leaving my deposit??? HELP....

My question is, how long does it take to get a build slot at the minute and once you have one, what are the current lead times? Has anyone ordered one within the last few weeks?

If anyone is interested my spec is as follows:

AMG GTs with:
Colour: Magnetite Black (looks kinda grey)
Wheels: Forged black alloys
Two tone black and white exclusive nappa leather
High gloss carbon interior package
AMG Aerodynamics package (fixed rear wing etc)
Premium package
Driving Assistance package
Night package
Dynamic plus package
Carbon fibre door sills
Upgraded Burmester high end sound system

Excited as hell to get this car as this will be my first ever big car purchase!!

Hope someone can explain the process and confirm what I've been told by Mercedes of Leeds so i can relax a little bit, because at the minute i feel like each week that passes is another week the car will be delayed by once it has a build slot.

The dealer told me the end of September but i doubt that now...

cheers guys

I wonder why regulations in the US mean you have to have the horrible orange reflector in your headlamps?

Over here in Europe as you can see from my configuration of my GTs we don't have any (we are allowed to just have a flashing orange light for our indicator (turn signal) without the need for the reflector also. Odd

cheers,

cheers,
DOT rules (dept of transportation)- they find the orange/amber reflectors or lighting to be more visible. Ive been adjusting my cars for over 15 years due to this with either coding to turn the lighting off or painted reflectors to cover over the orange. In this case I cant do neither because the orange is inside the light housing (I know one can retro but its PITA) so I just endure.

Having just had an email confirmation and a deadline for my options of 20.07.16 my car has a preliminary delivery date of 16.11.16, making it just under 4 months.... how does that compare with you guys that have bought a GTs lately?

Seems right in line with US. I ordered mine about 4 weeks ago and it is scheduled to arrive early November. Congrats on the purchase.

Thank you!! i truly am excited! Never bought anything this expensive before and can't wait.

I noticed our spec is different to yours in the US (we can't buy many options individually and seem to need to buy packages)

I was looking at the KW HAS kit for the GT but it looks like the drop is only 25mm front and 30mm rear which imho isn't low enough.

Vic do you have a side shot of yours to share? How much is it lowered?
