AMG GT S Edition 1, Audi RS5
So now I'm wondering if I will at least stay close with the AMG GTS and I'm wondering if they are close to the floor in their depreciation. I'm sure they have a little bit more to go since they are still new but if it's not too much and if it actually starts rising one day, then that would make my decision more worthwhile.
The AMG GTS is in a funny position because on one end, it's an AMG which has been known to depreciate very quickly. On the other end, it's the successor to the SLS which is the only other AMG that was actually designed by AMG from the ground up. That car is doing extremely well in the market. Two completely opposite ends and the AMG GT is right in the middle of it. Which way will it fall....

It’s a market for sure. If you have auburn brown interior and miles yeah cars going to be light. But the right colors and options with the real leather will hold for awhile. The GTS designation was just assuring a base set of options.
Cheaper cars will always be suspect IMO in other ways.

I tried to get a trade in price on my 2018 GTS recently just to see what it was worth and could not get one online... The MB dealer told me bring her in and they would appraise the car, yea not doing that.

This is not the norm for 911 ‘Turbos’ which have historically been poor re: % of retained value when used, especially compared to the GT variants. However the 991.2 versions have been quite hard to come by as the production numbers were apparently restricted. That being said, I’ve just checked all of the 2017 TTS’s for sale and even those with low miles have an asking price far below MSRP even if a CPO at a Porsche dealer.
But perhaps you’re really just a lucky guy; I suggest a trip to Vegas! lol

And with the 997's (what I just sold) do a quick search on manual 997.1 (2007-2009) turbos... Under 35k miles and clean title, you're looking in the upper 80's, to mid 90's. That's pretty solid for a 11 year old car with the MSRP of around 145k.
I made money on two 997's in a row. Neither had crazy colors (both were black) and neither had carbon ceramic brakes.
I'm sure the market will correct itself and go back down to earth very soon but as of right now, look and see what 2007-2009, manual turbo coupes are selling for. Under 35k miles and you'll see most in the 80's and some in the 90's which is nuts.

Depends on the generation of 911 turbo... Have you seen the prices on the 964 and 993 generation? Even the ugly 996's have risen in the past couple years.

Personally, I'd rather have the AMG GTS than a 991.1. Butter driver's car and the unpredictable drama of having over 500 horsepower and rear wheel drive puts it on the driver a little bit.

The TT is way farther along the depreciation curve and your example of having only 35000 miles on the odometer is a garage queen, that's less than 3000 miles a year. Go look at a 120000 mile 997.2 TT and tell me what the trade-in value is. Way less the mid-90's I suspect.

I only mentioned my 997TT because I've made a considerable amount of money on 2 of them and I'm wondering if the AMG will also have the same resale at the same age. The last one I sold wasn't 12 years old, it was 7. I used 35k miles because that was the average of what's on the market.
I really don't know how the AMG will depreciate over time, that's why I'm here asking what the opinions are as to how they'll do years from now. A 997.1 manual had similar MSRP to a 2016 AMG GTS, if a low mileage AMG GTS is also selling for $90k 11 years from now, then that's a win.

I’m going to have to agree with bishman on this point. Who cares what the car is worth after a few years? I have it now and I’m enjoying it. When it’s value has depreciated , I’ll still be having fun with it. To me it will be worth every penny I paid for it long after it’s worth a fraction of what I paid for it.
Drive it. It will depreciate the same sitting in the garage.

I expect the GT-C 'verts to take a hit when the 20MY GT 'vert arrives. The GT-C 'vert is the only roadster available now in the model line, but when the cheaper GT 'verts arrive buyers will have more options.

The base GT vert roadster was out in 2018. My friend has a base GT vert. He had it before my 2918 coupe was out. I believe they were out in summer of 2017.

Thanks. I'm a newbe coming from the Jaguar forum looking for a 'vert GT-C. I almost bought a 2018 Jaguar SVR 'vert over the holidays, but the GM pulled a fast one, sold it for more and returned my deposit. He first would not let me complete my PPI by not releasing the service records and frustrated the deal. I told him to return by deposit, not realizing it was his intention to frustrate the deal and sell it for more. On to better things...

We just bought a leftover 2018 C roadster for a good discount. It's a really nice car and drives well. Will make a great DD and my wife is happy now. She had a 2016 Maserati QP GTS which was just too big and then she started wanting the Gran Turismo convertible after a year of ownership. This car satisfied all her wants now she is happy and so am I.
I did a back to back comparison yesterday morning with my 488 Spider on some twistys near the house. The AMG was surprisingly good in the curves but maybe not so surprising given the rear wheel steering. It doesn't have anything close to the power of the 488 but it does handle well and I like the cockpit layout. I have Daytona seats in the 488 and they are better but the Recaro seats in the AMG are very nice. I don't like the racing seats in the F cars and so I have less headroom in the 488 Spider with the top up, not so with the Recaro seats in the AMG. It's a good compromise from a Portofino for $100k less and a good alternative to a used Cali T. I previously owned a 2017 Cali T HS and I would say this car is probably just as nice on the whole. It gives a lot for the money.
As to depreciation, I bought the Cali T HS new in March 2017 for $240k and traded it in May 2018 for $175k. That sucks but the depreciation on this car should be much less by the time we trade it in a couple years from now.

I like others said did not buy my cars to sit in a garage and collect dust. I use them to a great degree. The 16 Maybach has almost 60,000 miles on it and the 18 GTC has about 15,000 both are in pristine condition. Do the miles reduce the resale value? Sure but if I was worried about that I would have brought fine art..............
