They have been placing people on suspension over there left and right recently. If you speak out against the brand they hit you with the ban stick. Speaking of GT4's I saw a yellow one in Naperville got t-boned by someone running a red light a couple weeks ago, looked like a total IMO...what a shame.

I wish Porsche's weren't all so boring with the engine on the wrong side of the car. I don't want a glorified Beetle

Volkswagen Beetles are indeed "Glorified" Beetles. However, PORSCHE is a "Dignified" Beetle. The 991 GT3RS kicks the rear-end of the 2014 Ferrari Speciale by a full second on the clock, even though the Speciale is a V8 compared to a "Dignified" 991 GT3RS Flat-six. Speciale has 597HP versus 500HP for the 991 GT3RS. Clearly the PORSCHE is the underdog but kicks the butt of the Speciale by a second at the track. Mighty impressive if you ask my opinion./COLOR]

I guess going 0-60 in 2.5 seconds with the top down and with no drama is kind of boring

LOL I can relate with my Turbo S as well = boring = NOT

For those with little or no 991 chassis experience; I suggest you actually drive one if not own one.

Unlike many of the guys here, I can't afford to have more than one nice car at the same time.

If I'm in the market for a 150k car, I don't want a 911 that every doctor and lawyer has. They are way too common. Call me superficial, but I like some exclusivity. Fake it until you make it right? Jk.

What bothers me about Porsche, and that's entirely subjective are the following:

- I want a V8. Not a flat 6.
- I want the engine to be in the front, or in the middle. Not behind the rear axle.
- More exclusivity again.
- I can't stand the short hood in the front. The car has no presence (again, entirely subjective)
- RWD is a must. TTS is AWD (fast but boring). GT3RS... well... I'm not a VIP Porsche collector... I'm not going to suck anyone's dick to get one.

And yes guys, I drove the 991.1 C2S and TTS for a good while. I actually rented them. Not a good fit for me.

That's why you need torque. Driving a GT3 or a 458 would be boring

I'm impressed by your support for JSwan. But, his "unselfish shares" are the hallmark of a classic troll.

My track car is a C6Z06 with the LS7 motor. One much maligned by a few on the Corvette forum by the soul-buddies of your pal. When you objectively drill down into the hysterical whining of those malcontents you find a few motor issues, all of which have been handled under warranty, if legitimate. I see the same story being repeated here. Spare me the drama.

I'm only 2 mos. into my AMG GT S experience (a few other other previous AMG sedans & GT cars) so I'll reserve judgement about it's track-worthiness. Check back with me in the spring (the 'Glen). Although I don't intend it to be a track car, nor do I think it is, I'm interested in learning how it performs as a sports car in the extreme environment of the track.

Being "PRO" is all about how much $$ you want to spent.
If you want to make small fortune in racing, you need to start with big one! 😂

I do race many different Porsche models including 911 cup cars, 951s, 968s .
And yes I don't do anything else than 10th/10th when in race.

On the other side I'm trying to prove that AMG'S are real performance cars that can outperform P cars...

AMG GTS
This "blown engine" certainly seems like an outlier. The fact is, this car has been in consumers' garages for around 20 months in Europe for over 2 years. This appears to be the first blown engine. We really don't know any of the circumstances around the engine failure. I know in an election year everyone likes to sling mud and make conclusions without facts, but c'mon people, can't we at least wait for a little more info before we do this?!

For anyone who has been to one of the AMG driving courses, you know that these cars get the snot ran out of them for 12 hours...and they usually run the air conditioner full blast without shutting down the cars all day except for lunch! A couple of the GTS's that I drove had almost 10,000 miles on them. I would say these cars had some pretty hardcore miles on them and seemed to be holding together well.

Now, don't take me for some AMG loving troll. I'm in my first AMG and have had my fair share of issues (see my other posts). I wanted to sell my car multiple times. But as others have said, it seems like most of the issues have been worked out and I am now enjoying the car a lot. I would also agree that this car is much more "exclusive" than most Porsches out there. Even the more rare Porsches tend to get overlooked when a GTS is around. I think anyone on this board who has the fortune to complain about issues with their GTS is probably dong pretty well in life (#firstworldproblems).

[QUOTE=MStach;6959510]Being "PRO" is all about how much $$ you want to spent.
I do race many different Porsche models including 911 cup cars, 951s, 968s .
And yes I don't do anything else than 10th/10th when in race.

Apart from a few outliers [Patrick Dempsey comes to mind], being a "pro" means you are good enough that someone is willing to pay you to drive their very expensive mobile billboard in the expectation that their marketing return will exceed their cash outlay.

What series do you race? For whom? Also, I'm curious about the 10/10ths remark. In my experience, few if any professionals race at the car's 10/10ths until it matters - the end of an event. Depending on track position, sometimes not even then. They save the car as much as possible, leave something on the table until using it up can have a meaningful effect. But then, if not advancing their position in a substantive way when at "10/10th's", they will back off to manage the risk. That is the definition of "professional".

Lastly, 10/10's in a track-day event is not comparable to a professional race series. If your 10/10's is track-day driving, that's not the same as the effort, skill, and car necessary to keep such a pace in a major race series. I would venture to say even an SCCA pro solo event.

All said in the humble opinion of a simple staple salesman and lifelong amateur car and bike racer. [although in my (much) younger days, racing was sometimes part of my salesman's job description so in a limited way, I was a pro..]

It's all good man.

Ok, so you been around racing.
You know what race strategies are and I want disagree with you.
Sure you are not at 10th/10th all the time.

What i meant by my comment 10/10 was that if you do few laps at 10/10 than you get the idea of what that car is.

Even Patric Dempsey needs to bring money "in".

So if I get paid to race than I'm pro?
I do get often plastic trophy worth lot of $$ or Michelin hat that cost a lot in my tires budget

It's all good here also :-)

The guy posted his battery issue on the GTS problems thread. Then made a separate post about getting the car, which included the engine failure.

Don't like porsche that's cool, but to call it boring is a bit over the top!

Also, Thanks for the best laugh I had all year by using the word "exclusively" when talking about AMG. Really, they are putting AMG badges on everything with a steering wheel

Please tell me one current AMG that is or will holding its value. Good luck you'll need it!
