Tough race to watch. Track dynamics mediocre and the car classes made a poor race IMO.

I thought the video coverage was rather poor as they never gave you a sense of who was where in which class except the Prototype class. Also the leader board on screen hardly ever indicated which model of car was in which position, as they only listed driver numbers typically, and kept repeating the same class P or GTLM without listing the others. Plus they only had two colors for 4 classes.

But the AMG was in the lead of GTD class up to 1.5 hours before then end. A great showing for the car in its first time out in North America. Maybe they could win the championship. That would be great.

I agree. Very poor coverage on TV of what was happening between classes.

Prototypes and GTLM got all the coverage with a great finish. Impossible to tell which drivers were in which cars.
Nobody cares a rip about Prototypes, It's GTLM and GTD which had good racing but too difficult to cover the race within a race.
Can't wait for the Pirelli Challenge which will air on CBS with the sports cars that matter.

Thought it was a great race in 3 of 4 categories. The Team AMG 3rd place GT3 got quite a bit of airtime when it was leading GTD. The WeatherTech sponsored GT3 had some issues but you can be sure that a car sponsored by the series sponsor will get plenty of air time when it is competitive. Thought the cars looked great on the track and it is great to have them running this series for the first time. The AMG GT3 went to front in the wet, but were a little down on top speed in the dry compared to the NSX, R8 and 911 which is a problem at Daytona. This is good sign as they can ***** to IMSA about BOP (balance of power) and I suspect that they will be very competitive on tighter tracks during the reset of the season. Daytona should be their worst track....

My sons and I always attend the Rolex 24 and, for YEARS I have pressed the "MB system community to run in the Rolex 24 - rationale being the great marketing aspect.. This past race, I had the chance to visit the pits and teams and openly voice my pleasure of the two teams- 3 cars being there. I talked with several AMG folks, one owner/driver, and a major supplier .. Every one of them said they have been pushing DB-AG, AMG and MBUSA to enter IMSA events but the issue seemed the marketing folks were spending money on tennis, skiing, etc. They now believe with the results - progress / and positive advertising achieved - their IMSA future is getting really better ... It is still advertising and results ....Sebring in March is next.
