Haha. Indeed I will. But it would be great two have at least a couple guys with GT's there.

So I've never ran one of these. Seems like Vic is a roller . What would be a speed I'm looking for if I'm 130 in 1/4 ??

You're just getting into the power band at 1/4 mile so I think 175mph is reasonable.

Besides the driver spots are all sold out.

(Too bad there isn't a slot for "asshat")

GOOD LUCK LET US KNOW HOW YOU DO.

I am with JB and think that 160ish is where you'll end up. The turbos are out of juice after 140mph.

Oh that's right you guys went with the economy version. This is where the performance option works real well. My E1 pulls like a freight train up in that range with no fade whatsoever. I've been up to 165 and there is plenty left.

Either way enjoy yourself !!

The economy version does lose steam past 80mph.
Your "paymore" version is no match for the after market version which I was referring to. A tuned vehicle is awesomely strong to 140mph but past that it looses its punch versus a MClaren.

Not sure what you mean by economy version. I have a tuned GTS.

Just wanted to add, these 1/2 mile runs are fun. In Texas we have the 1/2 mile run and the famous Texas Mile. I have done the Texas Mile and it is super fun without all the work that goes into a track day. BTW, The Texas Mile is this weekend in Victoria Texas (outside Houston). I am going just to spectate. Driving slots get sold out quickly.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!!! You are correct Jim, stock ones I've seen are doing 150+/- in the standing half mile and I believe the Weistec GT with upgraded turbo internals, down pipe, mid pipe and race gas tune only went 164ish at Shift Sector(don't quote me on that).

The post that said 175mph made me spit out my coffee, my CLK making 1000hp at the wheels only went 189 at Shift Sector. People don't understand the amount of aero drag at these speeds and the amount of HP required for just a couple extra MPH once you reach triple digit speeds. A good rule of thumb is about 20-25mph over 1/4 mile trap speeds for a 1/2 mile pass. What people forget is that it takes you 12 seconds to do the first 1/4 mile but you cover the next 1/4 mile in under 6 seconds which doesn't give you much time to pick up too much additional MPH with all the aero drag.

Don't wanna be a spoiler, obviously I am a GTS guy but did you guys see the winner of the Texas Mile? New World Record? Ford GT 293.6mph That is fast.

JRCART:

That was my guesstimate. I understand your motor logic but you are pushing a box through the wind as opposed to the sleeker GTS body.

It'll be interesting to see who's closest.

BTW: I got my serial number on my GTR and am preparing for the Brunswick port nightmare we experienced with our GTS E1's.

The rumors have the initial GTR batch in port around mid to late May.

Best regards

Now I have to ask the question, are the times being guessed based from a roll or from a stop. Huge difference.
I thought Shift-Sector was from a roll. Mojave Mile is from a dead stop.
Based upon my experience and not what I read, stock ZR1's/ Z06's are around 172 in the standing mile. Nissan GTR's low 160s. Clk63 Bs 162, FORD GT 180's.
293 MPH is incredible but must be from a roll or 4000 hp. Sorry for off topic.

So long story short, I registered in January and forgot about it until march when I realized I hadn't received a confirmation. Despite contact they have just put me on a backup list now.

Anyone who has any contacts please advise, I REALLY WANT TO RUN lol.

Thx.

Jim Brady, I have attended a few Texas Mile events and all runs I saw and did were from a dead stop. Yes, from 0mph. The guy with the Fort GT is obviously really serious about this event. He really has a team with a huge trailer. I think this is pretty much what he does. He also has a crazy GTR that breaks 250mph (if my memory serves me correctly). First time I went I was really in awe being that most my race experience comes from DE's and a few runs at a couple cool tracks. I highly recommend doing these types of runs. Much less of a headache than doing the full track/trailer experience but I guess it's just what you're in to.

AMG17, are you looking for more info on the Texas Mile or a different event?

Nope, actually the CLK is more slippery through the air than the GT-S. The CLK has an astonishingly low drag coefficient of just .28 where as the AMG GT-S is .34, Keep in mind the GT-S is designed to have road holding down force and we all know down force = drag.
