I am considering getting a Renntech tune for my 2018 AMG GT. Can you really tell the difference in street driving or only when you are on the track?

The difference will be obvious.

There’s no doubt that you will experience a big improvement in performance. Money well spent.

Cannot speak to the vendor you mention, but I know for a fact with DME Tuning you will feel the difference in many ways!

On the renntech specifically, has anyone had any issues with warranty work (specifically that may be affected by the tune, say engine or driveline)?

What about Eurocharged? Has anyone had any experience with this one? I understand the performance jump is greater than Renntech, but at a lower cost.

I've had my car for 37 months and 21,000 miles. It was tuned by Eurocharged two weeks after I bought it. No issues.

Did Eurocharged recently raise their prices? I went to their site hoping to order a tune and noticed it's $2500 and not the $1300-$1500 people have stated.

So I put R888Rs on the rear to help with grip and it essentially turned it into a AWD car. It hooks with 650 HP/610TQ and it will pull on a lot of supercars.

good to know- I have always favored Michelin p/s/s but will check them out
besides EC tune what have you done to modify your performance?

I had R888's on my 997.2 turbo and they were loud as sh*t. I'm guessing you also have downpipes so loud tires may not bother you as much.

I currently have Sport Cup 2's on my GT S so I'm hoping they'll also hook up.

Nothing. Tune and tires.

They are pretty loud. No downpipes yet but it'll help. I don't do long trips with it so it doesn't bother me as much and I'm used to it by now. SC2s need a lot of heat to hook. I know the PSS that are stock are pretty awful, even when warm. Curious on how PS4s are.

P4s incredible. I used to spin all through first gear and into second on PSS. Now just a brief chirp and hookup when warm of course. Tires are quieter as well.

Besides the dyno and seat of the pants, have any of you actually gotten actual numbers after the tunes? When I say "numbers", I mean verified 60-130, trap speeds (1/4 mile as well as half mile).

Dyno numbers are great and all but what kind of trap speed improvements are to be expected?
I know my AMG GT S is not a dragster but since we're talking about a mod that increases power, traps and times are indicative.

Renntech has shown 10.94 @ 128 MPH (via their YouTube).

Weistec did 10.96 @ 126 MPH.

But what's disturbing is a stock one went 11.2 @ 127 MPH which shows the tunes above hardly made any improvements towards this.

I know there are a zillion variables between this small sample size of data, hence why more data from actual owners would be helpful.

I've seen around a ~4mph increase with a tune on the same car/similar conditions. You should expect a ~130mph car in good conditions vs a ~126mph car. A tuned GTS is slightly slower than a stock Gen V Viper on the highway (traps 132).

The turbos on these cars are tiny and run out of air around 5500RPM. I'm guessing AMG had to go with tiny turbos to keep a reasonable powerband since the 4.0L displacement is lower than previous AMG models.

Not worth it. I think that was a naturally aspirated engine so you probably wont get more than 10hp.

Wasn’t that the S/C engine that could make tons of power, or did that start in 2003?

Quick question guys, do any of you guys run the Renntech 200 cell sport catalytic converters on your GTS in Texas? If so have you been able to pass state inspection with a stock tune and the upgraded pipes? I am looking to get a tune and downpipes but being able to pass the Texas smog check is a big selling point for me... Thank you in advance!!!

R760 by Renntech dyno run:

This is WKW - stock vs R760

Turbo's swap
Downpipe
BOV
BMC High-Flow Air Filters
ECU

Getting car tomorrow as they are still installing aero pack, but did a test run today, felt completely different car.
