Ordered 2018 gts. Didn't get high end Burmester!
Did I screw up? Still waiting for my build date. Put a deposit on the car a month ago. Can I still change my order ?
is the upgraded Burmester worth it?

There shouldn't be a problem with changing your order, I wouldn't imagine it is "fixed" yet but your dealer will know.

I have the high end Burmester and IMO it's worth it.

If you don't mind putting in FAR superior aftermarket custom audio gear in your car for a lot less money, save your money: all you really need is a 10" woofer and amp should cost you with a completely custom install $800-max $1200. If you want to go crazy and add all sorts of new speakers it still shouldn't be more than $2500 but you will end up with a way better system than the "Burmeister" which isn't even Burmeister. But you really don't need more than just more bass because the midrange is plenty on the stock system. Plus the Burmeister system takes up lots of trunk space.

The basic Burmeister is essentially front facing stereo. As many have noted in other threads, it's adequate...barely. Yes, for this change, it should have been better. You'll have no trouble hearing it over the exhaust but you won't be tempted to park the car and rock out with a doobie either. I've not heard the $4500 upgrade but can't imagine the cost justifies it either. At the end of the day, at the end of the ride, it's about the car anyway.

Does the upgraded system take up more space in the trunk area? Where does the 11th speaker go in the dash? Is it in the eyeglass holder? I don't want to lose trunk nor eyeglassholder space.

As far as the 11th speaker not sure how you are counting them but there is a center console speaker on the dash in the center.

Yes
Totally agree, the lack of Bass is the main problem but the default system is .. OK and is loud enough.

I have a 2016 GTS with standard audio system. I don't care for it. My wife's Chevy Bolt has a better sounding one to my ears. So, when I ordered my GTC I went for the high end system. Sure, one can rip and tear out panels and spend less money for an aftermarket system that will sound better - but I didn't want the management of it...just wanted an integrated system. So yes, I'm no doubt spending more money for a somewhat lesser system than I could individually spec - but that isn't appealing for me.
It is the same reason that I wanted a GTS and not a less expensive GT that, yes I could chip....but still couldn't' make it into a GTS - no Dynamic Plus Package suspension, launch control available, etc. At any rate, to each his or her own!

If it helps any, I didn't go with the highest level. I heard both and couldn't see the difference being worth it given what you can do with aftermarket. For a little over half the cost, I had a DSP (Audison bit 10, new amp plus a 10" sub and its own amp installed (right rear opening in the trunk). The base speakers are actually OK but need a bit more power and the Audison really cleans up the sound. It's such a small space that replacing all the speakers doesn't yield much more. My shop didn't cut into anything that will leave a mark later and will remove for free when the lease is up.

Loud aint the problem. The standard GTS burmeister sounds poor. It is significantly worse than the high option C300 stereo. I think it needs more than a woofer. I think it needs nice tweeters that dont hurt the ears and mids that dont sound muddy too.
