Ahi ! Lol.
Passionate car guys right?! Everyone's car will be here sooner than later.
GTRs being tuned will be interesting indeed. I'm sure you'll report further on that.
Congrats on your 2 radical cars incoming.

Holy crap there are a lot of emotions here.
Here are a few things I know for sure:
1. Whomever mentioned the GTR and E63's being stored indoors, is correct. I too was told to stay hush.
2. There are currently 4 GTR's already in Canada, one of which was already trailered to Renntech for testing and tuning. The rest of us were delayed.
3. I was the 3rd person in Canada to order one, LONG ago. So I'm a bit pissed that I didn't get one of the first 3, however I suspect its because of issues with the RXB rim, and rear carbon brace.
4. I have friends whom are waiting for new Porsches, that have been sitting at the Halifax port for over 2 months awaiting EPA certification. They were finally released yesterday, and are on route to Toronto (4 cars I personally know of)
5. I'm tired of waiting honestly. I need a car. My Demon is due in the next week or so, but I expect at least a week or two delay. It will be the first of the 300 allocated to the Canadian market.
6. I was told my GTR is due to be built first week of September, and be delivered for first week of October. Not really happy about this, but what can I do.
Going back to #4, I have to say, I cannot believe how well Porsche communicates with their customers about their cars. Emails answered quickly, informatively, and with a desire to please. I cannot even get one email answered from anybody over at MB, even my sales guy is ignoring me, and I'm not even annoying! Needless to say, I would still never buy a Porsche

FOR THE MOST PART...We have a great group of members who help and inform each other as you have. Unfortunately there are a few who show up on occasion and try to stur things up. They need need a good and then I ignore them and their comments.
I too have read a TON on what,s going on. It may make you feel better to know that MB Corporate isn't telling the dealers anything either.
I have great relationship with my dealer and pass on any information I get.
I am thinking we won't see any cars delivered in the US until September.
Regards

Yeah, why buy a car that the manufacturer/dealer communicates with you and tries to keep you informed/happy when there is a delay on delivery, Or a car that holds value and doesn't depreciate as quick as you can right a check.. Makes perfect sense to me.

Here's my honest questions;
1. Why can't new prospctive customers buy a new high end Porsche without all of the BS and clickie stuff? My money is just as green and valid.
2. Why the "up charges" on MSRP? Porsche Should come down on that stuff.
3. It seems that service is more expensive and frequent than MB.
I think for the most part, the majority of owners are very good people like the AMG crowd. As I mentioned to you earlier, people like you who own both products are very interesting to me. Your willingness to share your driving and other experiences greatly helps me to better understand the Porsche brand.
Many thanks.

I 100% agree with you on the Porsche allocation process BS, it's ridiculous.
I got lucky getting an allocation for my new .2 GT3 coming in January, but I could not get my MB dealer to get me a GTR, because they weren't getting a single one. Sucks, I really like the GTR, maybe next year. Keep having a positive attitude JSWAN, your sick car will be worth the wait. Looking forward to picks.

I like Porsche but I bought and drove many of them when it was a buyers market.
The allocation, exclusivity of the GT series cars is a rather new phenomenon. Personally, I would assume that these cars don't make great daily drivers.
I really dont don't have a problem with Porsche upping prices and better controlling the supply. Porsches used to depreciate pretty fast and I guess that isn't good for the brand. My only problem is I already went through my Porsche phase when it was a buyers market, not a dealers market.
If its so clickish now, I might as well buy a used Ferrari from my local Ferrari dealer, so I can one day order a brand new Ferrari at list price.

Let me add that I really do like Porsche. I mean no disrespect to any GT3 / GT3 RS owners. The 911 was the first car I ever obsessed over. I can totally understand why you would want one in the most sporting form.

The GT3 looks like the base Carrera and the majority of laypeople can't tell the difference. Most couldn't differentiate a Cayman GT4 from a GT3.
Thr AMG GTS is easier to drive and much rarer. I appreciate these things.
Lucky for me I traded in my daily driven GT3 for 92% of original sticker. Remarkable for a 3 year old car and with the excise tax savings on trade-in had a deal on a new 18 AMG GTS I couldn't refuse.
You want to avoid depreciation buy a new mid-engine Ferrari. I drove a 458 spider for 2 years but it's a bit impractical as a daily driver because of the attention.

I daily drive my 991 GT3 and it is a rough ride, the wing obstructs rear view and despite the front axle lift being used multiple times a day I've still managed to scrape the front lip. Fortunately it's a $180 replaceable item.

A drawback to the GT3 is that the RPM needs to be above 5000 to hit the sweet spot and really feel the engine pull with the 9000 redline. An advantage of the GTS in daily driving is the low end torque and the engine still sounds good for a turbo IMHO.

FWIW: I'm still waiting with no updates whatsoever from MB so, I don't know if and when the car will be released/delivered.
My car was offloaded in the Brunswick GA port on 4/8. So, it's been 4 months now. What's another 2-3 months. Soon I can order a 2019.
When you get board, go drive the new Tesla P 100 S It's quick!! Very good quality.

My GT R is scheduled to go into production on 8/23 and I was informed last week by my dealer that it will now be 9/7. Why would MB have shipped 2018 GT R's in April? Isn't that a little too early for them to sell as 2018's? Also, the car hadn't officially made its US debut yet, as far as specs, pricing and options. It certainly appears like a debacle and could have been handled better for sure.

Needless to say, I would still never buy a Porsche [/QUOT
Yeah, why buy a car that the manufacturer/dealer communicates with you and tries to keep you informed/happy when there is a delay on delivery, Or a car that holds value and doesn't depreciate as quick as you can right a check.. Makes perfect sense to me.
Because I don't like them, and I don't want one. I hate how they feel, and dislike the way they sound. The ignition is still on the wrong side, and the engine is in the wrong end... If I cared about depreciation, I would stop buying AMG's, clearly I don't. but thanks for your .02

MB GTR, GTC AND E63S POSSIBLE REASON FOR THE DELAY
MB Corporate remains silent on the actual reason for the extended delay in releasing our cars.
We now know that they are both CARB and EPA Emissions Certified. (See my previous posts)
What wasn't looked is if the fuel economy and mileage have been certified.
The link below shows the certified fuel economy for the GT, GT ROADSTER and GTS.
Unfortunately there are no entries for our GTR, GTC and E63S.
One of our fellow members relayed a unconfirmed rumour that AMG could be reworking the ECU software to meet the fuel goal and avoid a gas guzzler surtax.
In my assessment, until there are fuel certification documents on this site we won't have a window sticker or our cars.

Thanks for this information. Here's the issue who all would be grateful to pay the gas guzzler sur tax now to get their cars on a delivery truck. Lol. Something tells me most of us would be happy to do so.

Please look at the second link I just added. It has all of the certified cars.
All of the AMG GT's are on the first page right side at the bottom. Once again our cars aren't there.
The good news is that this document is updated weekly and should be a place to check on. IF I am correct, once this is solved we will see the cars released in quick order and transported to the dealers.

The earliest delivery for the 991.2 GT3 here stateside is November 2017. Those early November 2017 deliveries mostly come from the owners of the VIP Program who got first dibs in the order banks. There is no delay in USA 991.2 GT3 deliveries. Europe always gets early deliveries as in any European brand. There is one member here who is expecting delivery this January. The lock date on my 991.2 GT3 is October 5 2017. I placed my 991.2 GT3 order back in May 8 2017.
I have bought many varying PORSCHE cars. They are always a few days ahead of projected dates. Once there was a delay and got almost daily updates up to the point where the car is loaded on the truck enroute to the dealer. Legiimate PORSCHE orders get a V**tracking sheet shown below.
Drive safe,
