GTC or the GTC Edition 50
I have a deposit down on a GTC Edition 50, but I heard from the dealer that there's a regular GTC coming in around the same time - obviously different specs but a great build nonetheless. Also, I'm guessing $25K cheaper.
Given the exclusivity of the Edition 50, would you guys spring for it? I'm hoping that it would retain it's value more over the standard. Would love opinions on value retention.
Thanks!

I have a GT C coming...I did not go for the Edition 50 as over time the extra cost/value for most SE's is normally diminished. I'm hoping the ride on the GT C is not overly stiff, but will find out soon enough. I understand the cars should be released by the end of the month.

I placed a deposit down over a month ago, and heard from the dealer that it was slated for a September build date. My guess is August shuts down for holiday in Germany, so nothing gets started or is at least delayed during this month.

I found cosmetic difference only "special editions" not worth the premiums they charge.
There is nothing in the "Edition 50" GT C's that I found more attractive than being able to spec. a build yourself according to personal preference and taste.

I am guessing that given the limited #'s it will depreciate a bit slower than the regular cars, though ultimately, you can't bank on that. As well, I thought the GT C Coupe wasn't arriving until next year, as a 2019 model, so my decision was also based on having access to the car earlier

Canceled my reservation on the Edition 50
Saw the diamond white GTC roadster today, side-by-side with the cashmere magno white GTC roadster.
It it was no comparison. The matte paint is just not good-looking. It is “different”, but it takes away from the beautiful curves and reflections of the car that the designers of the body intended.
Likely going to go diamond white metallic, which is stunning. Black wheels, silver leather, silver fibre dash and upgraded stereo in a custom order with a black roof.
Anybody heard the upgraded Burmester sound? It’s almost a $7k upgrade, but I really like great sound. Hope it is worthwhile. The normal spec sound in the GLE63 sounds amazing. Can’t imagine the Burmester upgrade.

My wife and I just went to the dealership for the second time today to reflect on the GTC Roadster that we want to get just for fun cruising around on nice days.
I did not personally like the Matte paint on the Edition 50, so I cancelled my deposit on it (was Cashmere mango white and had everything else I liked).
At the dealership, they had a GTC Roadster in diamond white with white wheels (I wanted black) and a carbon fibre interior (looked great) with the regular Burmester stereo. They will powdercoat the wheels for me to make them black, but I don't know if the regular Bermester should be a deal breaker or not. They told me that they will incentivize me to get the one on the floor, but that my custom ordered one will take until about the end of June to be delivered.
Not sure if I should let the Burmester stereo be a deal breaker on a car that they will price to make me want to buy it - or if it is just really that good a thing to have (the upgraded Burmester).....the money isn't as important to me as the "total experience" of the car.
Does anybody have any experience with the "normal" Burmester vs the upgraded Burmester in the GTC roadster?
Thanks in advance.....

I have the ‘normal’ Burmester in my GTR and frankly I am underwhelmed. YMMV and I would strongly encourage you to listen to it in various modes and when driving, etc.
BTW: Who in the he-ll orders “White” wheels on a MB? Gross!

I can't imagine the stock (4 speaker-100 watt) system of the GTR sounding anything better than marginal. MB's reasoning behind that (for the GTR) is, it's the lowest weight of all available sound systems.

The normal/stock Burmester in a GT and GTR is (4 speakers-100 watts). The $1,300 upgrade in the GT and GTR is (10 speakers-640 watts). This is the normal/stock setup in the GTC and GTS. The $4,500 upgrade (11 speakers 1,000 watts) is an available upgrade in the GTC, GTR and GTS.

I did not realize that the stock unit was some form of Burmester also. My GTR actually has the $1,300 ‘upgraded’ Burmester system and I’m still underwhelmed.

Before ordering the car, I spent time in both cars trying to figure out which upgrade to get and the difference in both was negligible especially considering that I rarely blast it as I'd rather hear the heart of the car. I went with the $1,300 upgraded one and I am happy with it.

I spent an hour in two adjacent vehicles - one with the Berm and one without it. I happily blasted through my playlist in both vehicles. I was astonished that the only difference I could perceive, was when I blasted high def AAC files that were line-connected. Classical music was unbelievable in the high-end Berm.....but I would almost never play that in the car......the Beach Boys high def AAC files sounded better in the high-end Berm - but not until I was blasting the music....and at a normal listening level, there was not a huge difference for the price to me. This was inside a large dealership, though and not on the street. I went with the normal one on my order.

High-End Burmester sounds epic with Electronic Dance Music in Hi-Fi. My chest reverberates with every beat, never experienced such a visceral audio experience in any premium car audio system before. Blows away the upgraded Bose system in Porsche.

In the car driving, there is much better clarity with the high-end unit. Words sung are quite a bit more clear. The base unit in the GTS is just comparatively muddy - at least in the human voice MHz.
