2018 GTR Active Aerodynamics Issue
Hey guys,
So I took delivery of my GTR about 5 weeks ago, I noticed as I drive that I got a pop up message that shows the active aerodynamics logo and tells me that it is inoperable due to decreased ground clearance. I would think to myself, hmm, I do not see a level change in the street but I think to myself the car knows better. Well, now, Everytime I start the car up, I get this message and the manual active aerodynamics button becomes red. I took it to the dealership, the fault reading gave a message of "the underbody spoiler has a malfunction, there is a component Fault" and they stated they could not see anything wrong when they put it up on the lift and that they probably need to remove the front wheels, front bumper and under armor to be able to get to the actuators that could be faulty!!!
I have no confidence in the dealership given they told me in the beginning this logo is for the rear spolier and they wanted to execute a procedure which pops up according to my vin no!! I am like, this is a fixed spolier, then they showed me the message and I told them this is under the car and not the one behind car!!
Any ideas or connections to a better dealership in Germany that could help? Or better yet a contact in AMG itself.

Absolutely, I intend in doing so but I wanted to post this here as well in case anyone has any ideas or if someone has good connections in AMG for recommendations.

Sorry to hear you are having a problem with your new beast from the green hell.
It seems logical that they need to remove under armor and whatever other component to get to the malfunctioning part based on pics you shared.
If you do not trust that dealer, then just go to another one that is AMG certified.

I am pleased to let you all know that the issue has been resolved. I took the car to a neighboring country dealership who had far more experience and were able to fix it on the spot. I really can't fathom what the original dealership were thinking but they could have just been blowing off by making it sound like they have to take the whole car apart before they see whats up and I also did not get to see the car on the lift. Quite unhappy with that behavior if that was the case, either that or they are truly incompetent as they were trying to convince me the issue is with the rear spoiler!!! Till I explained to them otherwise.
Well, this dealer put the car on the lift and called me into the workshop immediately, the underbody spoiler was stuck in open position and when pushed upwards made a clicking noise close to a spring sound. They stated they would need to unbolt the spoiler which had clear bolts marked - no need to remove bumpers or under armor and they discoveres a spring had come lose. They noted down all part numbers necessary to control the motion of the underbody spoiler and fixed the loose spring. Lo and behold, two hours later, I drove off with my car with the active aerodynamics back on. 👍🏼👏

Nice. Glad you got it taken care of. Similar thing happened to me with a Lexus years ago. Clutch was making weird noises. Two dealerships wants to tear the car apart to figure it out. The third dealership I went to knew what it was instantly and all it needed was a simple spring fix. Took all of 20 minutes.

For future reference, I don't think that error message means the active aero was malfunctioning DUE TO reduced ground clearance. It means the spoiler is stuck open. And that means you NOW HAVE reduced clearance. So be careful when going on bumps and stuff, you're going to scrape.
