Tire ? For GT R owners

Has anyone picked up their car with any tires other than the R03 option, which is the MPSC2 ZP?

Does it it come with the regular, non-ZP Sport Cup 2s in the same size if you didn’t get the R03 option?

TIA,

Bish

Bish:

To my knowledge the GTR’s are only being delivered with the Sport Cup 2 tires.

The GTC’s on the other hand have showed up with Continental’s.

There's more than one version of the SC2 tires ... he's asking if the non R03 optioned cars came with the less aggressive non ZP version.

ZP:

They we're supposed to come with the Cup2 ZP's for R03 - You can see this in the Car and Driver tests for Lightning Lap results. Seems something was dropped and we did not get the stickier 285/335 combo.

Sorry to bring old threads back, I just ordered the Z07 tires (335-285) for my GT-R to get ready for track weekend at cota. I’ll give my observations after I get them installed.

Thanks for letting us know. Soulsea will be going to the track in March with the same ‘Z07’ tyres, which are of course the ultra high performance option tyre for the GTR. I have a set left over from my Z07 which I’ll be using later this year also.

Anxious to hear your thoughts. They are a beotch to install btw.

Awesome! Why are they so hard to install? The run flat part?
We will be there from Friday ( private day ) Saturday and Sunday with edge addicts ( private run group )

I have the non zp tire on my car but of course it says R03 on the sticker.

The US cars all seem to have the R03 option from the factory, but it’s just the MPSC2, non ZP version. The ‘super fast’ tyre isn’t even offered in the US; probably a legal decision by MB. You do have to be careful with them in bad weather, and they hate the cold! lol

They aren’t hard to mount on the wheel; the issue is when trying to inflate them as it’s really difficult to get the beads to seat enough to hold the air.

You probably know this, but on my Z06/7 I would shoot for 32 psi hot and hence start them around 25-26 psi cold.

I don't have the manual near me ...

Anyone know what the torque is for the lugs?

I'm guessing around a 100ish?

These tires perform incredibly bad in the cold and wet and until you get some heat into them. Don't ask me how I know. I'd suggest removing them for DD activities.

For those of us taking off the wheels often: don’t forget to get two minimum or better, three of the lug nut extenders from Fred at Reverse Logic. Save your backs and more importantly your CCM rotors!
