Upgraded my AMG GTR
#26
certainly impressive gains... has anyone had their GT; GT-C or GT-R ECU's upgraded by RENNtech ? wonder if the results wound be similar ? Thinking of doing the same with my GT-C
Also, I have an F12 and had the ECU tweaked... it is simply vicious in race mode... I suspect the driver in the video simply wasn't interested or was caught off guard in a tall gear... the GT-C is very quick but at 5000 + rpm's, the F12 is just leaving here... now put the two on a road course and I suspect the GT-C would be able to not only keep up but possibly post a better time... the tranny shifts are just as good as the Ferrari's and the handling is very, very good... now the F12 TDF is another animal...

i dont know if an ECU alone will give you similar results but what you see here is a 350 to 370hp gain which can never be met by a tune alone

all I know is that they do an upgrade to the gearbox and program the TCU to get the best out of the complete upgrade
i hope this answers your question because really I don’t have much more info, they have done 3 gearboxes for me my SLS biturbo, AMG GTS “sold” and now my GTR

Happy new year to everyone wishing you all a prosperous and joyful year and more to come
The roads at midnight today where completely free so I decided to go out and do a 60–130mph run in my GTR to share with you guys

How mich is that in 100-200kmh? Have you find the toyo tires?
Please more

Ok..guys I have a question....I also have a GTR and I am kind of disappointed it is not much faster than an SLS in a straigth line...So I really want a tune...but I am very afraid that the tune will turbo lag me more....Between the SLS and the GTR seems that the GTR has a damper in the accelerator as it does not have the crips immediate response of the SLS in whatsoever..2 completely different engines...I did a lot of miles in my SLS and when I jump from the GTR to the SLS seems that I went into an engine alive..the GTR I need to push the accelerator firmly to have response...
Now...What tuning option would I have? I would love something that would mantain 2nd gear traction and would progressively increase torque in the rev range to reach approximately 750 to 780 Hp in 4 th 5th 6th nd 7th gear and not more than 680 Hp in 3rd gear...Also I would like the minimum turbo lag and avoid abrupt instant torque deliveries that would set the tires in the no grip zone,...
who could do this?

Does anyone know what the limits are for the stock trans on the GTR? Are there shops offering built transmision upgrades?

A tune on these cars does more for throttle response than anything in spirited driving. Torque will be instantaneous with a tune, but Increasing power 100 hp/two or so will affect traction on any car and you need to feather throttle accordingly.
I suggest Eurocharged as they seem to have best results/ less problems/ $ reasonable.

As for the tune you would like; its just not happening. No tuner can drop the tq curve gains down at lower rpm and raise it as the rpms go up. All tunes on the cars yield a raised flat tq curve on tap in the 2k rpm range all the way past 5k plus and then it drops while the HP curve keeps climbing. It almost sounds like you want/need a different car or an AWD beast where a tq bump doesnt hurt the grip as much.

A tune on your car will improve throttle response (as mentioned) and will not increase lag... you are not increasing the size of the turbos which causes spooling issues but instead creating more boost faster so its actually going to be a benefit in this regard.

actually Vic it could be done by limiting the TQ on the TCU tune for each gear but you would lose performance hard, in the first three gears plus anyone knowing the GTR has a different gear ratios than the GTS and SLS, it has a long first gear ratio and shorter second and third it’s strange but it makes the car perform better, I see it’s pointless to make a tune with restricting power in the low gears with how my car preforms and my personal experience, more power can be handled easily with this platform

ok no one does that de-tune but I know at least the guys at GAD usually bump the TQ limiter a little more than factory setup for the GT’s and GTR’s and can bring the TQ limiter lower or higher as required through the TCU tune but honestly this is the first time I hear of someone who wants to make more power in certain gears and have the same power as original, but like I said before the GTR with a tune only is a beast that can be controlled that also goes for the GT platform in my opinion

Toyo R888 AMG GTR
Don’t waste your money on R888 Toyo Tires They suck . I took off my stock Cup 2s and then went back to same track and spun out 4 times . They dont hook up anywhere near what the stock cup 2s do . I want the tires they used to get there time at Nuremberg!!!! JB
