USA GTR are 577 hp or 585 hp ?
Question 1:
Just realized that every review I see says GTR has 585 hp ...and yet the MB USA car configurator say 577 hp ....
which is it for the US?
Question 2:
i am told that there is away to get AMG Affelterbach to tune up cars through a Performance center type of request ?
Is that true ? My car build date is 2/15/18 ... would love to know if they I can pay extra to have engine tuned to the E63 600hp ?
Would it hurt the GTR ? Would it mess up what ever set up the factory did (suspension...gear box etc...) when choosing 585 ?
My driving would probably not be able to feel the difference ...but the 600 number ..is a mental satisfaction ....

Q1 577hp BUT K&N Air Filters for the turbos should get it up to 585 like the euro models.
Q2. I would be interested in the answer too.

I am no expert but I believe the difference is DIN HP vs SAE HP. GTR produces 430KW which is approx 585 DIN HP or 576 SAE HP. In other words, it is the same.

Thanks everyone !
Like i said ... more of a mind game ...I doubt I would be able to notice a difference ..
It is just annoying that E 63 has 600 hp with the same engine ... I don't understand their product segmentation, the GTR should have numbers higher than an E63 ....even if they come out with a black series later ....

E63 has new twin scroll turbos and only 8.6 compression ratio. GTR has a larger turbo than regular GT, 9.5 compression and exhaust port and flywheel mods.
Im real curious how they setup the GTR in 2019 with the specter of the Black looming.

Well, you need to understand that they are 2 different engines. Bottom line is E class is the latest and greatest numbers wise.

Wow ...did not know that ...thanks.
I hope there is no change for 2019 models... right now my production date is 2/15 (delayed from 2nd half of December).... guessing the car will be in my hands in beginning of April.....
2019 models will be when ??

I have also read that peak hp is down slightly versus the E63 due to a difference in the exhaust setup for the GT R. Meaning it is slightly more restrictive due to it being so far back in the chassis I’d guess.

GTRS being announced soon. GTR is not the halo car, it's like the AMG standard version of 911 GT3. They will pump them out and values will drop in a year or so (hence why I had zero hesitation letting my spot go). The GTRS will be a limited edition monster both in performance and probably value (think SLS black Series)

The GTR is their current halo car. They have this benchmarked against the GT3 RS. The black series will be against the GT2 RS. Have heard this straight from the top from both Benz and AMG CEOs.
The true halo will be the project 1.
I have them all on order and can't wait to see which is better.

The e63s is also a sedan, heavier, and has all wheel drive to get the power down and maintain traction.
It's like being mad that a panamera turbo has more power than a 911 gt3.

That's what the man said. He's probably very quick surgeon. If so, he should be very rich. (Based on the old saw about the surgeon who can complete an appendectomy in 10 minutes, but who charges as much as the old guy who takes 90 minutes to do the same thing. Which surgery would you rather have, assuming the results are the same?)

My assessment is that he is VERY, VERY GOOD at what he does!!
He works very hard with the knowledge he has aquired and learned over the years and is entitled to have his play toys for his down time.

We also have several friends that are well recognized surgeons in their field - none of which could afford a Project One

Not sure why we are debating the wealth of fastmd. He said he one on order and look forward to him sharing his buying experience and pics and videos when he gets the car.
I guess I should go down and start hunting for a BS spot if they are about to announce it.

I like to confirm because it would be very interesting to hear a bit more about the car as he would have more information than published if money was put down on the car. Also realize that he has a very nicely stocked garage (am very happy for him - gorgeous vehicles) but they are all small change compared to a $3M car...
