Extended warranty purchase
After over seven months of waiting, my car is being transported from the VPC to my dealership . And we are expecting a big snow storm here on the Northeast .
of course my dealer is calling me everyday to keep me informed and reminding me to set up delivery and pick up.
Is the extended warranty worth it? I’m not sure if I’ll keep this car more than four years. I’ll like put around 4-5k miles / year on the car.

Congrats Cutter. Long time coming.
i bought an extra transferable year/ 10k and 1 time/each wheel rotor and pad replacement for 1600. I know that having an extra year or two when selling Car will pay for it.

Ok, thanks.
hopefully I’ll be able to pick the car up when the streets are clear of snow and ice. Salt may linger . I wanted to get it wrapped before Spring. Is winter a good time for Xpel wrap? I’m sure the detailing shops are climate controlled

If you dont keep it more than 4 then dont waste your money.... and your usage will clearly not exceed the 50k during the 4 years.

The extended warranties on the GT R are fairly expensive iirc. If you're not sure you'll keep it past the 48 mo/50K standard warranty I'd pass, as you can always buy it later if you decide to keep the car. You 'may' pay more later versus at delivery and the finance manager will no doubt push the extended warranty, telling you it can be cancelled at any time for a refund.
Re: Xpel. Most decent installers will have a location that can be heated, as much for their comfort as well as helping the film 'dry'. Once you pick it up park it in the sun as much as possible if the weather allows.

Here's something I found out that wasn't disclosed but was probably in the fine print. I had a vibration dampener replaced on my SL63 (common problem) on extended warranty. When I traded it in for my C63 S and had an unused prorated refund sent check to me. It was the prorated amount minus the cost of that repair. Hence, I was expecting like 2k and got $400. So if I would have had a repair during the extended warranty period that cost more than the leftover prorated amount. I would have got nothing. Finance sure doesn't tell you that - although I'm sure it's in the 4-point gray font if you want to look for it. On a funnier note - the dampener being out made the car sound like it had a roots blower on it. Kids loved it and thought it was cool - lol.

I guessed wrong. It was 50/50 (pulsation/vibration) oh well. Yeah - I've had two replaced between the 3 SL63's I've had over the years. It was the extended warranty from MB. I should have mentioned that as well also.

If you are going to do PPF, the only reason to hurry would be to apply it before you get any rock chips.

Yes - was a two year extended MB warranty I purchased from FJ in LV or Silver Star in Thousand Oaks - can't recall. When your warranty is up. You are offered a one time chance from MB to buy a factory extended warranty. This covers everything bumper to bumper like the original warranty except for trim and anything not critical to the safety of the vehicle. When I traded the SL63 in at FJ LV for a C63 S. There was a year and a half left on it. I was told they (FJ) would request the refund and it would be sent to me (standard procedure). However, since I had a claim - that would be deducted from the amount. I did not question it or ask to see anything in writing. Assuming that's the way it is/was. Let's see if anyone else can chime in and have had the same thing happen to them.

One consideration -- if you sell a vehicle to a private party, a extended factory warranty can be transferred to a new owner through MBUSA (although it is somewhat difficult -- there are forms available to fill out.) If traded or sold to a dealer, the extended factory warranty cannot be transferred and is not of any value in determining value. (I thought I was out of here, but the thrill linger on.)

Yeah! Sorry. I'll do better in the future. In the meantime here's the link to MBs Extended Warranty Transfer Form:
https://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/c...+Agreement.pdf
The original factory warranty (and I believe the extra CPO warranty) are tied to the VIN so that when the vehicle shows up for servcce, it is covered no matter who the owner is at the time. However I know from experience that a factory extended warranty from MB does not transfer unless this form is mailed after being completed by the seller, buyer and any MB dealer. This sort of makes sense in that the original warranty is tied to and included by MB via the original purchase whereas the extended warranty is tied to an owner who purchased it or to whom it is transferred.

I guess I should start posting more. I ordered my GTS in late June, and still do not have a build date, though I'm being told "late February or early March."

My Recommendation: Leave it where it is at the dealer until the roads clear and then take it directly over to your wrapper of choice. You aren’t that far from fastmd so why not let him hook you up with his wrap guys. (known vendor).
Enjoy your new ride!!
