PPF Time
What is the average time for the entire car to be wrapped? I am being quoted 1 day to 1 week.
Do they take off the front or rear bumper?
I'm in the DALLAS area and Xpel DALLAS is quoting a day which seems less to me. I don't want the process to be rushed. But then again they are the factory store but I am having a hard time believing they can wrap the whole car in just one day.

For my PPF application, called the Sports Car Package, I was told it would take about 6 hours. This application includes the entire hood, front fenders, side mirrors, front bumper, rocker panels, door handle cups, and rear bumper. I am scheduled for Monday, so I will know soon.

It’s pricey for an all over but worth it. Be sure to have it ceramic coated too.

Both places that gave me quotes stated three days. I would expect a place like the Xpel ‘factory store’ could do it in two easily and perhaps even one depending on number of installers and their experience level.
Btw you should be asking them explicit questions such as: ‘are all edges wrapped? Are the bumpers, or other parts removed?, etc’.

My wrap took 3-4 days. Ceramic coating took another 2 days to put on two coats and then wait for curing. They took off all the trim, light canopies , grills and emblems. They wrapped the edges, reinstalled the trim. They got new emblems and badges.
They took off the wheels and ceramic coated the wheels and calipers.
It was in the shop for 6 days

And what did they advise you to do to remove the dirt build up that occurs on some edges over time?

There are no exposed edges. They remmended only wash, NO WAX, . Just dry and then spray their Sealant HIGloss Detailer. The dust along edges can be swept away from the interior edge with a small detail brush.
My Detailer does many high end cars

probably a full days work, but a week is ridiculous. If you find a good shop, dont rush them, but dont allow them to park the car longterm to do a 1 or 2 day job

The edges that wrap inside the rear fender air vents seem to be the worst.

Might be artifact but what is all that figure on the hood? Is the Xpel still wet? Is there moisture under the wrap?
They didnt remove the grills on the hood nor the fender fin grills on the side?

Should not take more than one day.
Did my GTR two weeks ago at “DFW clear bra “ in Carrollton.
I stayed the entire time watching ...(only front of car ). Meticulous team in my opinion...
they use Suntek ultra ...which I wanted vs. Expel ultimate. Very happy with results. Also they print the exact shapes of your car panels ...means they don’t have to cut with box cutter the outline....

But you do have edges as opposed to cutters and fastmd’s job. They have essentially no edges since their bumpers, grills and vents were removed.
As I learned from the postings here, the installer experience and reputation make a huge difference.

I prefer to have as little or nothing taken off the car for PPF. It also seems over time when edges are wrapped around/under they inevitably lift and can lose adhesion. Thus peeling back and lifting up in certain areas over time. These non-wrapped edges are nearly invisible unless you point them out and get right on top of them. I have also found they have less of a tendency to peel. Unlike the wrapped edges that are stretched and heated to go around tight bends. Looks great in the beginning. However, it can possibly cause a problem in some spots down the road.

Fully agree ...installler makes the difference. This is why I have recommended this one for people in DFW Texas.
I have both ...wrapped edges on hood for example...if not wrapped...they made sure the gap is super small...unlike other installers...
they removed only only the hood grills ...and the “V8 biturbo “ badging on both fenders ...I had to pay for new badging from MB which the closest MB dealership had in stock ...$120 each. They took pictures and measurements of the “V8 biturbo “ before removing ...and placed the new ones very accurately.
I was very nervous when they told me it is best to remove the letters...but this was very well done ...they removed the original ones by heating them lightly first ...non issue.

They are meticulous . They do charge more but do a great job . Full wrap and two coats Nano coating , new emblems ran over $7500.
Lambos, Bugatti’s and Ferrari’s fill the shop on a regular basis. They must be doing something right. It also takes weeks to book an appointment with them. They don’t want any call backs. It’s bad for business.
So i don’t think there’s a problem with wrapping edges. The trim further secured the wrap in place when reinstalled .

I got an update on my PPF installation. While it took 7 hours on Monday, they let it dry for a few days. They will do final detail on Thursday, I pick it up on Friday! The good news is that I have been traveling this week so it's not like I've standing around just waiting.
