Can you explain how Designo colors work? I just saw a GTR in Germany, get China Blue, straight from the factory. Can you also touch on the interior process? I want something not ridiculous, but something unique to me. Thank you!

I think maybe the process is a lot more complicated here in the states than overseas. To get lined up for a batch of GTR's with paint to sample process sounds like it might be very difficult.
It may not be helpful advice but I would consider wrapping the car. Costs way less, protects your original paint and the resale, change colors whenever you want.

I don’t need no custom designo colours exterior or interior, I just wish the GTR is available here in North America with more than just 3 different black interior colours
There should be a lot more interior choices just like the GTC’s.

I think with the GTR being more of a track car they want the dinamica/microfiber/alcantara interiors.. at least you can do yellow stitching and yellow seatbelts! Looks awesome with interior night package and matte carbon fiber

Well, there is an all leather option, so if they offer that, why not make the others available? instead of just the one with the gray inserts(kind of dull to me). And what about other colour stitchings for the alcantara like red stitching etc.
The way I see it, with the highest end models like the GTR, the more choices for the customers, the more desirable, let the customers decide what they want among those options that are already available instead of limiting their choices.

I agree 100%. It makes no sense to me that the yellow stitching in the GTR, doesn't have the yellow stripe/accent coming up the seat like the silver does. In addition, why isn't the 12 o'clock center mark in the steering wheel yellow also? It's actually a dark gray - that almost blends in. What would have been really cool, is if you chose GHM as your color, and there was an option for green stitching, that would have included a green steering wheel center mark, green seat-belts and green stripe/accent on the seats. Do the same for red also.

The problem with allowing too much customization is that people are flaky by nature. They only need to leave a $5k deposit on a vehicle in Canada to "custom order" it, and there is about a 25% cancellation rate on high-end vehicles like this that are built to custom specs. You therefore have to, as a manufacturer, exert some limitation on the outlandishness of the options while trying to be true to your brand identity. You basically want every vehicle in your brand to exude a range of portrayals from "classy" to "fun" - and never "cheesy" to "gangster". The limitations are therefore there to serve everyone. I rather like the fact that most thugs, drug dealers and gangsters seem to drive cheesily customized Range Rovers. They have wrecked that brand in my opinion. Mercedes remains a really nice and classy brand identity. Bentley offers a huge range of customization - but it comes at a huge price. I can easily afford a Bentley - but I draw the line at paying more than $250k for any vehicle, no matter what as a matter of principle.

And I was only talking about having the interior options available for the GTR that are already available for lesser AMG GT models, not custom ordering.
The only example of a “custom order” GTR I am aware of in Canada is one with the matte black paint of the new E63S launch edition, and I doubt they would do it for any customer who is willing to pay(cost upwards to $15k from what I heard), but one with special connection and status.
and even the matte black paint is not really a “custom order” paint, they are only using a paint already made for another Mercedes model.

Those are excellent points! My "Dream" setup would be to be able to order the Lexus Paint options on the Mercedes Vehicles! I haven't seen nicer colours and sheens than those on the Lexus vehicles......

My last BMW M5 was special order paint and interior, with the BMW individual program the your wallet is the only limit. I was a little disappointed with the limits of color selection when ordering my GTR (First MB). I think I will live though.

Honestly the best choice would be get a no cost paint like the 040 black or jupiter red.. get it wrapped? doesnt help in the inside honestly. We just sold a G63 2018, black and they wrapped it matte army green... looked interesting different..which is good lol

Doesn’t the AMG Performance Studio solve this? I have seen videos of the location in CA where there are shades of orange, purple, red, and blue, with the same type of range for interior colors. If you are to secure an allocation of the car, what stops you from having AMG make it the way you desire?

I recently saw some higher-end vehicles at the car show in Calgary that were wrapped.....and they look.....well......"wrapped"......which in my opinion, vastly cheapens their look. Nothing looks better than a nice paint job that gleams. Transparent XPEL wraps are not discernible, and they really shine beautifully when you wash the car using the Chemical Brothers' Honeydew wash via a foam canon (takes only minutes and lasts a long time).
