New owner with slower GTS

Hello everyone,

I just bought a used GTS edition one with 4000 miles on the clock. The car history in the dealer is clean and there are no messages on the dash however before driving the car i tested my friend's GTS it felt much much faster than mine and no turbo lag whatsoever although my friend's GTS has almost triple the miles on mine. Any ideas on what it may be? The previous owner did say he never used 95 fuel (it was only recently introduced in my country) and he never used the car in S S+ or Race mode! It just feels like the car is heavier and slow to respond!

PS- the weather these days reaches up to 113F

Thank you i would appreciate any input!

Sounds as though the previous owner babied his car and didn’t break it in. He may have put a few miles on it but didn’t push it. The engine needs to limber up so to speak . It will react differently after you put some miles on it where it’s being pushed further.

I would still run a diagnostic at dealer. Maybe IC not performing 100% in that hot weather

If he's been driving it in 'C' mode most of the time and not rolling into the throttle often, the car may well have adapted to a 'granny' style of driving. Get to some open roads; place the car in 'S/S+' and floor the throttle when its safe to do so. Also use 'M' mode for the gear box and get it up to the upper reaches of the rev band.

I'd do the above first. If it doesn't start acting like your friend's GTS I'd do as Vic and others have recommended; get it on a dyno and see what hp/torque its putting out at the wheels.

Let us know what happens.

I will do what you said but how long do you think this would need? So that i just have a rough idea on when to move to the second plan.

Might your friend's car have a tune? There is a measurable difference in performance with/without.

A couple of hours tops? Maybe just a couple of high speed runs.

Maybe ask the dealer reset the adaptation so your car can re-learn YOUR driving style, IF dyno shows the power and tq is there?

Don't forget... There's a slew of options available if it's still not fast enough to suit your needs!

So I can say this without hesitation...my car on a 70 degree day is absolutely faster than it is on a 110 degree day (of which we've had a few close to 110 lately). Air intake temperature is a huge factor both in regards to power made by literally by the cool air and the power the car is allowed to make by the ECM due to air intake and exterior air temp. I'm guessing here but I bet I'm down 50hp between 70 and 100 degree day.

I am in South Fl and could not agree more with triblk6spd's statement. I really can feel the difference especially in second gear when the ECU allows the full beans. Waiting on your review before pulling the trigger on the matter. Chop chop Mister
