I disagree, for the price of PPCB against cost for performance they are not worth it .
the fade is rectified with correct break in and change of fluid .
Not to mention resale, one would never get the cost of brakes back.
The PCCB aid debatable regarding life use. 80 minutes of tracl laps they require replacement .
Refer to rennsport and they will suggest the same no value in PCCB

Depending on the owner’s usage of the car, you can certainly make a case that they are absolutely worth it here in the US where the option is around $9K. They are a non-brainer for a street driven car in that they will never need to be replaced, unless they incur damage outside of normal use; they keep the wheels much, much cleaner, and they will be more sought after in the used market.

i do not believe we’ve heard from a GT R owner giving the car a really good work-out on a road course state that the iron brakes are in anyway adequate. If you car comes so equipped and you track the car, I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts. For sure changing to track pads with the iron brakes is going to make one hell of a racket unless you constantly switch back to the street pads ASAP, but then you’ll probably be bothered by pad deposit inconsistencies.

Re: “PCCB rotor life being 80 hours”. This is not the experience at all of Porsche owners running with the Gen 3 rotors. Read Rennlist again.

Angry CCM/GTR

Whether anyone can tell the difference in unsprung weight particularly when street driven is highly debatable, but it is an extra benefit. And to be perfectly honest the ‘gold’ CCM caliper looks far better than the yellow option colour. IMHO of course.

As for the track: time and time again the ‘professional’ reviews of the car in respected magazines stated almost unanimously that the GT Rs with iron rotors experienced fade on the track. This does not happen with the CCMs although one has to upgrade to a top-of-the-line DOT 4 brake fluid due to the heat generated. They just stop the car without fade consistently at a normal HPDE event. Re: cost: the CCMs on the GT R are the same type of rotor as the Gen 3 PCCBs found on Porsche’s, and as such given the experiences of owners of those cars, hold up extremely well on a road course longevity wise. This has been confirmed to me by John Gaydos at Autoquest who anecdotally feels that whilst earlier Gen 2 PCCBs might be able to do 2K track miles before the need to be replaced, the Gen 3s can probably do 4K track miles. That’s a lot of track miles for a weekend warrior to accumulate at the track at HPDEs. That mileage may well be extended further by replacing the pads early; something I intend to do.

Bottom line: there’s a reason the vast majority of GT Rs being driven are equipped with CCMs, and it’s not to do with cost.

The only issue...for me is the ..pad/rotor break in (street)....that`s a PITA.........I`ve had several cars with CCM`s ( current is a 2017 Porsche,991.2 TS)....non track car.

I somehow talked myself self into buying a blue g550 4x4 squared.....traded my white GTS in for it. I told myself the designo Mauritius blue was a special blue and different from other blues and a really cool color. Started to hate it after about 2 weeks. Will never buy blue again.

So the car stops incredibly well even when cold on the street without doing a formal ‘break-in’ procedure; at least mine did. I did experience some lack of linearity just as coming to a full stop before I did a break-in with the CCMs, but some might not notice it.

A blue G550 looks meh compared to black. That was a bad trade.

Saw a brilliant blue C300 and was not impressed.

Blue GTS/GTR looks ****.

Not really a bad trade , figured I would wrap it if I didn’t like the color and getting it at msrp when they were selling for 50-75k over msrp clinched it for me.... wound up making money off it but didn’t really enjoy the car. The blue is probably the sole reason the dealer let it go at msrp in the first place.

99% of cars look “meh” or worse in blue.

So you settled for a less desirable color to save money and then quickly dumped the G550 after hating the car within a 2 week time frame?

A wrap is never going to look as good as factory paint on a vehicle that size.

I guess it’s true what they say about opinions. This tells me all I need to know about yours.

Where are you getting your intel?

save money? No...the vehicle is hard to find.

2 weeks? No .... 9 months. Hated it after 2 weeks , “dumped” it 9 months later for 20k over MSRP. Good trade.

GTR would be next and you couldn’t sell it to me for $30k below MSRP in blue.

All wraps look better than blue paint

Looks like we helped so much to build the brilliant blue GT R that it's now a grey color.

just because one bloke didn’t like blue should not change your order.
someone else loved it as they paid $20k over Msrp to a private seller.

the blue will sell it’s the only one and looks incredibly smart.
It needs yellow stitch though.

Good! Are the brakes CCB? If so you've got blue and gold - UCLA Bruins colors.
