I know with many other brands of cars any dealer worth anything should be able to trade another dealer for an allocation its happened to me on 2 other cars both times with in a weeks time. Now I am not 100% sure on Mercedes AMG but I would think so and if u ordered 4 months ago with no info I would have zero faith in this dealer

I've had my order of 19 AMG GTR for a while now here in Canada (West Coast).
The original production date was supposed to be in July but was pushed back to August. The car is now on the ship and should arrive in Halifax, Canada (September 13th).
Excited to finally collect the car and I sure hope the emissions certifications here in Canada won't delay my delivery date...

Hey benzbell...thanks! I'm calling the dealer again now to see what I can shake loose. I don't even have a request number so far, just a sales agreement. I got him to agree to a 3% annual interest rate on my deposit, tho...so the longer this takes, the more I get credited. I'd gladly forego the interest for the car!

Sussman will confirm that not every dealer will receive a GTR ordered or not.
AMG sales, dealer volume and if the dealer is a authorized AMG dealer not just a MB dealer are some of the components.
Sussman also recently posted that even though he received 6 GTR’s in 2018 he may only receive 3 in 2019. If sales slow down for other dealers who speced cars or had a customer back out then the dealer trade option may occur BUT you get what was ordered.
THE BUY PROCESS:
You order the GTR at the dealer with or wirhout deposit (this is a dealer option).
The dealer specs the GTR with you online linked directly to the AMG ordering system in Germany.
IMPORTANT PART
NEITHER YOU OR THE DEALER HAVE A LEGITIMATE ORDER UNTIL IT IS OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED AT THE FACTORY!! Until your dealer can provide you with a online screen print of your order with a P.O. number you don’t have an order.
Once this occurs you are slotted in a very efficient supply chain/build process.
The dealer can provide you with periodic screen prints of your order moving through the process with predefined milestones.
The dealer can also provide you with a web address to identify the ship name your car is loaded on and the GTS coordinates as to where it is in its journey to the MB VPC closest to you. It’s usually a 10-12 day journey across to the first VPC stop. On the east coast the ship will dock at Baltimore and Brunswick and then return to Germany.
The VPC will receive and go over your car in fine detail to be sure everything is as it should be. They are also linked online to Germany to log their progress from start to finish including safety issues software updates tarriff changes etc. YOUR CAR CAN SIT AT THE VPC FOR MANY, MANY MONTHS BEFORE IT IS RELEASED ONLINE BY GERMANY TO THE CARRIER FOR DELIVERY. ALSO, UNLESS IT IS BEING WORKED ON YOUR CAR WILL SIT , AND SIT AND SIT OUTSIDE IN THE WEATHER. SOMETIMES FOR MANY MONTHSUNTIL IT IS FINAL CHECKED AND RELEASED TO THE CARRIER. (Ask me how I know).
SOME REASONS FOR DELAY: EPA ISSUES, SAFETY ISSUES, ASSEMBLY/QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES, AND TARRIFF ISSUES NOW DAYS. THE “MARONEY” aka WINDOW STICKER WILL IN MOST INSTANCES HAVE TO BE REPRINTED AT THE VPC IF ANY OF THESE CHANGES ARE MADE.
The normal average time is around 5-10 days. Remember, yours isn’t the only car they have to process.

Yea they need a PO or else I'd look for another car, Im sure there will be one around (most are locked)... just dont order a car, wait for the specs to lock and then back out ...

I hate to tell you but FWIW this IS NOT a picture of the MB VPC IN BRUNSWICK, GA unless they built it in the last year. If your car is in Brunswick it is stored OUTSIDE unless it is being actively worked on or prepared for release to the carrier. (ask me how I know).
That picture as I recall was posted last year of the MB VPC at Long Beach, CA.
RECOMMENDED: If your car stays in VPC BRUNSWICK for more than 30 days request that the dealer clay bar the paint before you take delivery. Salt air is a *****!!

But, do NOT let the dealer do the paint contamination removal / clay bar. Take to a professional detailer.

My dealer tried to orchestrate a swap for an allocation so he could match my specs, but couldn't after a couple of tries. Somehow though (and I didn't ask how!) he got an already built 2019 GTR that met 99% of my specs. It's at the dock, waiting to be assigned a ship to Baltimore (VPC). I said "yes" and he confirmed with a PO.....so in about 4-6 weeks (fingers crossed), I should be wheeling around town in a new, metallic black 2019 GTR. Stoked!
Dealer also reported (I can't confirm so don't shoot the messenger, please) that the production of 2019 GTR is done for now; that MB is pushing for production on 2020 model to start in November for arrival in Feb/Mar of 2019.

Just speculating, but that would be possible if there is a facelift/refresh for the 2020 model year, and they could release it as an early 2020 model in spring 2019, that happens all the time, the AMG GT S was launched in spring 2015 as a 2016 model for example .......

Just speculating, but that would be possible if there is a facelift/refresh for the 2020 model year, and they could release it as an early 2020 model in spring 2019, that happens all the time, the AMG GT S was launched in spring 2015 as a 2016 model for example .......
He was told: "For arrival in Feb/Mar of 2019" - which to me, means deliveries and dealer orders at that time. The GT S was launched in spring of 2015 as a 2016. I wonder when the first actual deliveries were. So it may be possible.

not sure about a facelift..I did see a test mule running with some camo on carscoops awhile back.. (not a GTR black series mule)
I dont see much as 18 was a refresh and they dont usually do "two" refreshes on a model line

18 is the first model year for the GTR as I understand it , at least in N.America, nothing has been changed since the GTR's launch , not for the 19 model, but a refresh is possible for the 20 model ?

I mean...I doubt it..? I honestly think 2020 we get maybe a gtr roadster unless it gets canned like the gts roadster.. And probably a gtr black series.. And that's it. I can see some tech/software tweaks but not a "refresh"

My power failure loss happened about 24 hours after I got the car. We went though coil packs like skiddle candy for the next few weeks. Birthing problems is an understatement over the next several months!!

How long is the wait on the GTR? I ordered the 2020 GTR today and my dealer told me 90 days..They always say that and you ending up writing 6 months or more..Anyone had an experience with ordering the GTR in the pass?
