The only mod I would consider is a Renntech tune, and will be running 19X11 and 19X12 Forgelines with Michelin slicks for the track. I agree with you, I don't think anywone could improve the suspension on this car with aftermarket parts.

My car cleared customs yesterday (November 1st) and salesman once again confirmed that it's just going to sit in a warehouse until December. Hopefully it's December 1st and not 31st. LOL!

AMG GTR
The word I have is the cars must stay at the VPC until they are wholesaled to dealers. I’ve been told the car will be released on 12/15.

Driving GTR over 2 days at COTA, there is definitely a throttle lag out of corners that needs to be addressed. My friends tuned GTS would hands down beat up a GTR in a straight line badly.

Depends on the tune I guess. Not a big difference with Renntech's which is probably fairly conservative:
They rate the stock GTR at 609/541 crank- https://www.renntechmercedes.com/ind...mg-gt-r-detail
and their tuned GTS at- 601/582- https://www.renntechmercedes.com/ind...gt-s-fl-detail

Well it’s not about peak numbers. It’s about throttle response.

Have you driven both?

After driving mine at three HPDE weekends, and then the GTR at the Academy back at LS in October, I cannot agree that there is appreciable lag on corner exit. I run mine in ‘Race’ mode/‘M’ all the time on track, and was driving the Academy GT R both in Sport+ and Race mode in ‘D’ mode at LS. Race/D for instance never allows the rpms to fall below 4,500(?) rpm, and lag of any kind is simple nonexistent.

Plus the DCT is more aggressively tuned in the GT R versus the GT S, so unless your friend’s GT S has far more hp/torque than a stock GT R, I do not think it could beat a GT R 0-100 mph; 1/4 mile, etc. As for on a road course; forget about it.

Drive a tuned GT, you’ll see what I mean. There’s a lot more torque around 70 ft pounds available at much lower RPM.

No I haven't even driven one at all. lol. Not until I get it in December.
I really want to do a Renntech tune, but I've had nightmare issues with my wifes E63 wagon so would be afraid of something going wrong and them not covering it.

So I was checking on the Renntech tune for the GT R a couple of days ago. It states that it’s mandatory that you use 93 (US) octane fuel, and if all you have locally is 91, to call them. The gains themselves aren’t great even on a 93 octane tune, especially given the cost, so the 91 octane tune would not be worth the money to me.

And then there’s the warranty issue. Is a Renntech tune sold and installed by certain dealers going to cause any form of warranty issue at a non-Renntech dealership or MB themselves? I don’t know the answer to that, and I’d want the warranty implications written down on paper and signed by the Service Manager at the selling/installing dealership.

Are there any mercedes dealerships that sell Renntech tunes? IMO, if something goes wrong especially something big no way would it be covered. A motor R&R is over $100K

16 E550 Cab, 2003 Ram bright red crewcab 4x4 we call Clifford :)
my dealer in Sarasota said no more rentech tunes installed at dealer and it would kill the warranty. When they see it on engine computer it gets flagged... I forget the code he used...

My local dealer here in the Kansas City area is still a Renntech dealer to the best of my knowledge. I’ll check in a couple of weeks when I take the car in for service A1.
