2018 GTR and 2018 E63 Wagon
R03 Extreme-Performance Sport Tires

Does anyone know if these are still available for the 2019? When I built/ordered mine, the salesman said he could not find any option for it like the 2018's.
I was thinking maybe they made them standard for 2019 on the GTR's, but when you go here-
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehic...nt=model-specs
It shows tires sizes as 275/35ZR19 front and 325/30ZR20, which are not the R03's that are from the corvette Z007

Thanks.

The R03 option is not available for order/delivery in the USA; your salesman should know that. But never fear, as the R03 tyre is simply this:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...oModClar=Coupe

The Michelin Sport Cup 2 ZP tyre that is OEM on the Z07 version of the C7 Z06.

Hmm are you sure? Do you mean just for 2019? Because when I was looking for my GTR I got many different windows stickers from dealers that had cars that said they had the R03's, check out my attachment

Winnebago, Yugo
My car's build sheet listed the R03 option. Did not come with the tires. But I did install the Z07 SC2's last week, going to the track Monday.
They look awesome, much less tread and less tread depth. But seem to be very noisy.

R03s are Pilot Sport Cup 2s, but not the zero pressure TPC Spec tire that comes on the Z07 package grand sports and z06.

That is not true to the best of my knowledge:

The OEM tyre everywhere the car is sold is the Michelin Sport Cup 2. It comes standard on the car and is NOT the R03 option tyre.

The R03 option tyre which is the SC2 ZP tyre, is only allowed to be sold by MB in certain countries of which the USA is not one of them.

My car also was ordered with the R03 ‘option’, but as the ZP tyre can’t be delivered on the GTR in the USA, every car ordered that way was simply delivered with the ‘normal’ SC2 instead. The same tyre it would have been delivered with even if the R03 option hadn’t been specified.

Check this out:

http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatel...-Sport-Cup2-ZP

It specifically lists the very limited number of countries where MB will actually equip the GTR with the ZP tyre If ordered that way.

no.. thats the spec 1448 for Corvette grand sport and Z06 cars.. both ahve to have the Z07 package ... but once your non ZP cup2's are done you can get them from tirerack or wherever..

that ZP tire I can tell you does not last nearly as long as the regular Cup2's.. on track you have about 3-4 good laps on them per session before they really heat up, a couple more are ok... but then its understeer city lol.. maybe its me. Car & Driver said after a few laps they can get a great time, but another couple and they are losing over a second a lap...

I was at summit Shenendoah and its hard on brakes and tires and I can attest to it.. smoked a GT3 911 early on in a session... but halfway through he was gaining and I was understeering (granted Ive done three track days on that set )

Honestly the non ZP tires arent bad at all.. maybe better for most people

Shalul,

The OEM tyre for the GS and Z06 is the MPSS Michelin Pilot Super Sport, not a Sport Cup 2. The SC2 ZP tyre; which is the R03 option tyre that we can’t get the GT R delivered with here in the US, is the OEM tyre for the Z07 optioned Z06.

It it takes me about two laps to get the ZP tyre up to temp and then it’s great for about 4-5 laps. Only the last lap or two does it tend to get a little ‘greasy’.

What pressures res are you running them with?

As for cost: you have to pay to play!! lol

Thats too high Shalul. Start around 24/25 cold and you should end up around 32/33 hot. Try it and see if they ‘last longer’ for you.

Agreed. If you are starting at 28psi and pushing a 3700 lb car really hard you were probably 40+ hot. Any performance street tire when push hard on the track is going to jump 10*.

Check pressures, RIGHT off the track. And if you do a cool down lap, I'd add about 4 psi to what your are seeing. Meaning if you do a cool down lap and come off seeing 36psi, it was really 40+

Any recommendations for all-season tires on a GTR?

I'm considering HRE performance wheels (RC103s) as a second set.

These were just released by Michelin. They are sized for the C7 Corvette Z06 and hence are slightly larger than the OEM Sport Cup 2’s that the GT R comes standard with in the US, but they are the exact same size as the R03 option tyre that the rest of the world can order on the car. I can personally tell you that this size tyre fits perfectly as I’ve run the MP SC2 ZP tyres on track three times, and they are the exact same size as these A/S 3 tyres.

Here you go:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...oModClar=Coupe

Btw these are Run flat tyres
