The order WAS in!
so after telling me last week they were putting my order in for a 2019 GTC the dealer called three days later to inform me that Mercedes was not accepting new orders for GTCs at this time! What is up with that? They claim that ordering might open up again but don’t know when. You’d think they don’t want to sell me a car! Anyone have any insight on what’s going on here? I want the car but don’t want to wait a year to get it.

I read somewhere recently that they were stopping production of the GTC convertable. You can get a GT convertible though.
The market seems to be saturated with the convertibles.

After you put in an order, they wait for an allocation to open up. Some Dealers never get one. Then the order is accepted and they get to wait for Production date.
It took almost 8 months from my Order to delivery. I placed an order in June, I didn’t get an allocation til September. Production was in December . Delivery was in January!

Sounds like order never was in actually.....sounds like dealer never had an assigned allocation for one, they just hoped they would get an allocation and got your hopes up based on their hopes.
Unfortunate this happens, but happens all the time with all the various manufacturers and overzealous overpromising certain dealers.
what they should have done when you inquired, been up front, said they don’t have a current allocation, but if you would leave a 100% refundable $xxxx deposit, we will put you on our list of people wanting. You will be #x on that list. Then you could have hopped on that list, and if it wasn’t looking promising could have kept shopping for a dealer with a real, not magical, allocation.
Good luck in your continued search.

Two larger dealers both claimed they had open allocations but MB is not accepting new orders for the GTC at this time! After the first dealer called and said they were unable to place an order I tried another large dealership and they came back with the same message. No new orders currently but that could change. They don’t know if or when so unless they can find me one somewhere I’m screwed. I mazes me that MB doesn’t want to sell one of its halo cars to a good repeat customer. Has anyone else been told anything like this lately?

Have u checked to see what other dealers have on their lots? It does not have to be just a local dealer either I would think most would ship it to your local dealer if u found something that u liked plus u could probably get a better discount buying a car thats already built.

That car is not a convertible. It does have Distronic. It doesn't have the red pepper interior. But you do get red seat belts, red piping on the seats and red stitching. Also, no forged wheels.
