2016 Mercedes AMG GT-S
16' AMG GT-S Problems
So I have owned many Mercedes cars with no problems at all. Actually have felt like it is the more reliable of vehicle maker I have owned til now. I have had this 16' AMG GT-S for 6 months. It has been in the shop consistently. This last time for 67 days without a solution. So I am seeing the following warning's pop up and would like to know if others have as well.
Reversing Not Possible Service Required
other one is
Electronic Rear Axle Differential Lock Inoperable
So a dealership in Dallas could not fix it after trying twice. The car would not shift gears and would bring the rpm's through the roof. They told me it was a transmission temperature module then a software update. Both of which seemed to be the issue. Then it was back in the shop for and they said it needed an entire new transmission. Yeah that didn't happen because after waiting almost 2 months they said it was just a transmission fluid issue. They normally charge $1,800 US dollars but would not charge me. Within 24hrs problem happens again.
The car slips like it is a transmission issue. I have been reading could also be drive shaft.
This last time it makes a loud screeching sound then says malfunction followed by (Electronic Rear Axle Differential Lock Inoperable). So for the last 90 days the car has been essentially out of my possession. What should I do? I feel like the first dealership was not being honest. Now I have it at another Mercedes Dealership hoping they come up with a solution that works and they are honest.

Two words: LEMON LAW.
Dealer's Duty to Repair: A reasonable chance for an auto dealer to repair a problem for a used car is considered to be:

- three or more repair attempts and the problem continues to exist; OR
- the car is out of service by reason of repair for a cumulative total of 15 days or more (although unavailability of parts may extend this time).

Lemon the car and ask for a discount on a new 19 GTS. When buying used, there's always a risk of purchasing a problematic car without truly knowing the prior ownership history. Of course, this particular car could have been a lemon from the start.

At minimum I would be talking to corporate.
I would make sure the regional sales manager knew me by name and cell phone number I'd be on his phone so often.

I may be completely wrong here but doesn’t the Lemon Law only apply within the first 12 months and the first owner of the vehicle?
Regardless this car needs the transmission replaced and it should be a straight forward job for any MB dealership with an AMG tech. It’s still under warranty so I don’t understand why the hesitation on the part of the dealership.
Unless the car has been modified.
