Ronin,

I have this complete waste of oxygen (AMG GTfan) on my ignore list, as he’s the ultimate troll. Has nothing to state positively about any AMG products, and apparently can only get it up when discussing Porsche GT models.

BTW has anyone tried www.rebrake.de ?

On their website they state that they specialize in refurbishing ceramic rotors.

Interesting find. I like their offer if it works better than new (that's what they claim) for 1,500EUR per rotor.

And Mr. Polish racer can even speak his mother language with them.

What kinds of ceramic brake rotors are there?

The industry differentiates between CCB discs, which are manufactured by Brembo SGL (Porsche PCCB, AMG-Mercedes, AUDI). They feature a thin, but hardened top layer. This layer protects the ceramic rotor from wear, making the brake pads the main wearout component.
The second kind are CCM rotors (Ferrari,Maserati), still using outdated technology, these discs do NOT have a hardened top layer and thus wear extremely fast.

Good to know we have a better technology than Ferrari and Fiat, emm Maserati

Tikt make extremely high quality equipment and I bet these will work brilliantly. BUT, IMHO the intake at the front at least sits way too low and will be very easy to damage. Since they will be CF pieces this is going to get expensive, quickly.

Again, I’m no engineer, but TIKT need to 1: reconfigure the front air intake, (and perhaps the rear also if it follows the same design as the front), not to sit so low; (perhaps it can be given more ‘width’ and less ‘depth’, and 2: make the bloody things in cheap to replace black plastic.

I've emailed them and I also noticed how low they are but remember they are part of the upright and will move up and down with the wheel travel.

Ah, good point. I forgot the suspension was unloaded in the picture. Please let me know what you hear back. They make superb parts; (I know them from their C7 Z06 parts), but they are crazy, price wise.

I’ll bet the GTR PRO Brake cooling parts will fit the GTR’s too. Now all we need is the part numbers and the inventory/manufacturing source.

I will be very interested in your assessment of the improvements of the GTR verses the GTR PRO.

Regards

Jerry

This is true, Jerry, and IF the Pro brake ducts fit the standard GT R I’ll get them for sure.

Caveats: I’m worried that the front brake ducts aren’t stand alone items like the above TIKT items, but are attached to the new splitter. I do not know whether this is how they function, but I doubt I’d replace the front splitter; (as much as I’d appreciate the increased downforce), just for the OEM ducts, and I can’t remember reading that there were dedicated rear brake ducts on the Pro. Hope so though.

I'm thinking of a full set of wheel fan discs for my wagon since it is so much harder on the brakes and traction control than the my GTS in the canyons even with SRF fluid.

Looks like with the cooler screens installation, removing gravel and other foreign stuff and the brake cooling parts we are going to be real busy in the front of our GTR’S soon.

That’s a damn good point Jerry. I am going to purchase the cooler protector screens this week, but will delay having them installed until we get closer to warmer weather, just in case I can find some solution to increased brake cooling. The car is under the cover and on the charger right now anyway! lol

Renntech already figured out this issue a long time ago.

Therefore if anybody looking for a solution you can contact them! Lukas the ceo I believe drives a lot on the Ring and this brake issue is now solved :-)

« As known before, the brakes are a weak point on the factory vehicle. RENNtech improved the setup with their own track package; including lightweight two-piece brake discs with stainless steel sport brake lines (TÜV certified), special racing brake fluid and a plug-and-play ventilation kit made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. »

One of my friend who already installed the R760 package will purchase the brake kit so let me know if you guys want more details and pictures

I would love to get pictures/info on their plug and play ventilation kit. I'm sure other members would as well.

Complete Brake Option/Upgrade for GT R/S

Carbon Ceramic Brakes for GT R/S

1. GTR front CCM rotor size was overly increased to 420mm (from C63's 360/330mm; or C63BS' 390/360mm), yet the rear kept unchanged at 360mm - System is more front biased than rear like C63 which is more known for "tracking"2. GTR rear caliper is downgraded to single piston floating type (to accommodate e-parking brake), vs. 4 pot fixed pistons calipers which is rarely equipped for a true track car.

It's not that we need new CCBs, what we need is a cooling solution for what we have already.
OEM brakes are fine they just don't get any cooling airflow..

# 1 you should not be driving this car on the track with stock break fluid as it will heat up ,
# 2 stock pads cant be used on the track as they are made for the street as track pads take longer to reach operating temps and are not safe for the street .
# 3 why are the pads worn that much ?did you not hear the worn pads and continue driving?
not giving you a hard time but some responsibility needs to be taken here , as the rotors and calipers are perfect for track use .....
