2016 AMG GT S engine compartment covers
Hi guys recently purchased an GT S and saw that in the engine compartment near the windshield passenger side is the battery compartment and on the drivers side fluid reservoir compartment.
Both being open but with a rubber gasket that seals it off when hood is closed.
I also noticed that others I've seen have a black plastic cover on them same models.
Can anyone explain reasonably why some have it and others don't its not the GT R or European models I don't believe. Maybe different production dates?
Attached are photos of one with and one with out covers.
Please help, Thanks so much!

Perhaps the covers are reserved for the R and the C models......

Sneezix & Katie22 Well HI! Thanks so much for your responses. Glad to meet fellow GT owners as well as cool car people.
That's what this board is about sharing and chatting with common interests. Thanks you guys! HUG
Sneezix I'm finding that 17' or 18' didnt necessarily have or not have them also, so year might not matter on if they were OEM.
I've seen all models and years showing some on or off so...
Thanks for your response, luv your AMG GTS!
Katie22 Hay Sister GT, thanks for your info too, I actually thought maybe they only put the covers on "Roadsters".
A friend has one and he said his had none... Lu ya roadster! it definitely looks good on you!...
Thebishman , It is likely they only provided them on mostly AMG GT "R" and Roadsters, the majority of them do, have only seen a couple that didn't.
But I did read a few articles on the GTR's which had photos of them without so its possible they had them off to show components or they used an incorrect photo, lol

Ah another gal in a GT. I saw a girl in a dark red one not long ago. It was on the Space Coast of Florida where we live.

The covers are actually part of a Package with Carbon Fiber inclusive, more likely for the GT R, mine has enough Carbon Fiber on it,
it's in the drive shaft that's most important.. not going to pop the hood to show carbon F on the engine plaque.
;( it's in hibernation till April probably May, till it gets warm enough to run the Pilot Super Sport tires above 35-40 degrees.
besides the salt and sodium chloride ruins a car around here so you go girl and enjoy that warm weather! lol

Ha ha I grew up in Michigan I know what happens to a car with salt. Also last January we flew up to Detroit to do the auto show. To our surprise our rental was a 16 Camaro SS. The car was the worse riding car I ever been in and I traded it in halfway through our time for a Camry which was nice. I got home and asked in the Corvette forum what was wrong with that car. They told me they never should have rented the car since it has summer tires. Surprise the license plate was from Florida.
Note the FLorida plate. Summer tires in snow are terrible.......

Well Katie, just confirmed with Genuine Mercedes Benz AMG parts, the covers are indeed for the GT "R" OEM.
perhaps for the Roadster C's as well, didn't ask them about that though.
Mine is Black, I'm on the East Coast, which is such a shame... ;( it's in hibernation till April probably May, till it gets warm enough to run the Pilot Super Sport tires above 35-40 degrees.

Boltonblue saw your post on sweet misery, being in the Tri-State area PA,WV,OH, its a bit depressing in winter always using an AWD/SUV to get around, there's just no handling, always braking into every turn lol
So she will stay garaged and get cleaned every week and got 2 battery Tender Plus' that will keep it topped off proper and lovely yes... LoL

2016 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG-GT MODEL OVERVIEW
New for 2016
Replacing the SLS AMG GT as Mercedes-Benz’s halo sports car, the 2016 AMG GT is an all-new model.
Vehicle Summary
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is a rear-drive two-seat sports coupe that serves as the brand’s flagship performance model and is the second vehicle developed solely by Mercedes-AMG.
Overview
A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 mated to a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission is the only powertrain available. In the AMG GT, the engine produces 456 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque while in the AMG GT S, it’s rated at 503 hp and 479 lb-ft. Fuel economy is surprisingly good for such a powerful sports car at 16/22 mpg city/highway.
For a sports car, the AMG GT is still somewhat practical, with a trunk that can accommodate 12.3 cubic feet of cargo.
Safety
In addition to the dual front and front-side airbags, the AMG GT also comes with knee airbags and head airbags for both occupants. Additional standard safety features include Attention Assist, forward collision warning, and BAS brake assist system, which assists the driver by providing additional braking force صندلی فلزی میز فلزی in the event of an emergency. Lane keeping assist and blind spot warning are available as part of the Lane tracking package while adaptive cruise control is available as a standalone option.
Trims, Packages, and What’s Standard
Standard features in the 2016 AMG GT keyless entry/start, dual-zone climate control, a Burmester sound system, navigation, heated and power-adjustable performance seats, Nappa leather upholstery, AMG performance exhaust, full LED headlights, a rearview camera, silver chrome interior trim, and front and rear parking sensors.
Optional features include a panoramic sunroof, extended Nappa leather upholstery, silver or red seatbelts, a carbon fiber crossbar, carbon fiber interior trim, an upgraded Burmester audio system, and carbon-ceramic brakes. For maximum performance, consider the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which adds dynamic engine and transmission mounts, a widened powerband, performance-optimized calibration for the steering and suspension, and an AMG performance steering wheel.
What We Think
In a comparison test that also included the Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Turbo S, the 2016 AMG GT S won because of its excellent handling, well-tuned gearbox, strong brakes, and powerful twin-turbo V-8. While it isn’t as scalpel-like on the road as the Porsche, the AMG GT S’ character on the road gave it an edge because it wasn’t all business and gave the driver plenty of thrills and excitement behind the wheel. We also noted in a First Test review that even though it puts out excellent performance on the track, the AMG GT S comes into its own on the open road and devours it happily, especially when it’s in Race mode. Additionally, the car’s interior is beautifully built with quality materials all such as real metal and carbon fiber trim bits, and high-grade leather on nearly every surface of the cabin. More recently, we crowned the AMG GT S the 2015 Motor Trend Best Driver’s Car.

My 2016 GTS has them. The battery cover was stained so I covered it in carbon fiber vinyl and I silver painted the heat sink thing that was kind of Discolored

Thanks to those of you that gave input, it helps to network when you have a question or concerns on your vehicle.
These covers are part of the Carbon fiber package, Maybe in the future I might look at getting some but for right now I am focusing on getting some new tires those Michelin Pilot Super Sports done last long even though they boast they last longer than competitors lol

green icon race mode
I would prefer the 4S over the Super Sports they are better in every aspect but inspection was due and around here the SS's were all that were available.
So I actually have a question I hope some AMG GT owners can answer- When in (Race mode) in the cluster it shows the shifting 1-2-3 gear etc then
there is a "Green" ^1 - ^2 - ^3 series that shows up sporadically as well? ( see attachment the (green 6) its like an arrow up-indicating shifting up I guess? Any thoughts. Thanks I couldn't find much online or in manual. Much appreciated!
