Who knows? Did a quick check and sales are seem too be going OK (up in the U.S, 185%, and Asia Pacific, up 133%.).

Well whats the delta? Thats key as 185% of a tiny number is not much.

I have zero intel on Aston anymore nor do I choose to indulge into the brand like my general education in Benz and other German nameplates but I have to guess that clearly supply and demand along with price point hits home thus the factory input on these leases. Further the dealer network is just not that relevant and brand reputation isnt incredible. Again there is more to it but its still basic Econ 101...

I was part of the residual building back when Ally took over the Aston leases in 2015 and we definitely required residual assistance from the parent ship to create more attactive payments. The key in any leasing institution is in the residual gain/loss. No way were we gonna over inflate residuals to take stupendous lease return baths in 3 years at the auction. Just a few points too high can kill a bank or too low can ruin sales.

Edit: so a lease is attractive for the end user as long as they know they are probably stuck in the car for the duration of term.

The residuals/MF are unusually good so my assumption is that they must be taking at hit somehow at lease end.
And I agree; there is no way to exit early without leaving money on the table. But we usually stay for the duration unless there is a pull ahead.
I am just a bit surprised on the bashing. This thing feels well priced for what it is and with AMG engine/tech it makes it attractive. Great looking car in the flesh. The grill looks worse at least on pics but if that would have distracted me, we would have never gotten the R231 SL. That front-end was downright nasty . Great top down cruiser though...

I think thats key, I have yet to judge the car from a driving perspective. As you know Ill always post reasonable drive experiences on cars vs some paltry 10 min drive but usually a full day or more. @AtTheGlen is really the only one has some real life experience.

I just watched a YouTube video from RBR (AKA Mr. AMG) on Vantage. He does a great job drawing comparison between the Vantage and DB10 and possibly what it would have looked like if they had used the headlights or grill from DB10 using CGI. Overall his review is very positive:

Good review. Thanks for sharing!

I don't mind his videos at all and his opinion is helpful given that he owns a AMG GTR and can easily compare these cars. Useful info on the tranny and suspension. I do like color on this particular Vantage; no fan of the interior but the every car I have seen so far looks radically different. Hoping for better weather at this point to take one for a spin...

They really all look radically different, making color and material options huge.

That grey all alcantara interior is just AWFUL. Has to be full leather.

I'll chime in here on AM's: In all my years of lusting after higher end sports cars, I have never wanted an Aston Martin, nor have I found ANY of them to be attractive. Just pick the year and there was always something out there that I felt was a much nicer looking, better made, more interesting car. I still feel the same today.

Thanks for asking! The weather has not been conducive until just recently and I need to call them again. I have recently been distracted with convertibles
I will definitely follow-up and post feedback once I had a chance to get a Vantage.

Once I had a secret love. I think it was 1965 and I was shopping for the first car I would buy outright for myself. I ended up buying an Austin Healy MK 111 with triple carbs. I loved the car and wish I still had it. While I was shopping, I stopped at a dealership in Los Angeles. On their showroom floor was a car like nothing I had seen. I sat in the drivers seat and felt like I was in the cockpit of an airplane. Everything was wrapped on leather, and I was in love. I had to ask what I was. I was told it was an Aston Martin and made a mental note to myself. Some day! Well the years have passed and I am grateful that I can now afford one. The last time I considered one was about 1999. I had just bought my ex a new convertible Jaguar. The dealer also handled AM's. My thought was the aston looked very much like the Jag and other than a little more horsepower there was not that much to separate them for the difference in price. In 2005 my ex fell in love with the SL500. I did my due diligence and have been into SL's since. Wolf, your information regarding the Vantage tickled my funny bone and the 19 year old in me was intrigued. I stopped by a dealership. and I do like the look. Two things off the top. I'm not that much into tech, but one thing I do like to use is the distronic option. That is not available with AM. Without driving the car, I could see it would have a big problem with blind spots. The blind spot tech is available but only as an option. I am interested in your opinion of the ride and performance. The SL is a comfortable and luxurious ride and when I put my foot in it, I am never disappointed I would like to know what you think and see if it is due serious consideration or if the real answer to my boyhood fantasy is the car I am already driving..
