AMG GTR PRICING
so went to my dealer today because i want to order a 2020 gtr and trade my 2019 gtc coupe. they said the best they can do if I order is give me car at MSRP and not charge me a mark up. My gtc was off the show room floor and they also said no discount but after some back and forth gave me about 12k off. those of you with GTRs did the dealer give you guys a discount? any one actually pay a markup?

So hard to state exactly how much of a discount I received, but it should be patently obvious I didn’t pay MSRP. There was no ADM on the car btw.
If I was looking at a GT R currently and unless it had to be a 2020, I’d buy a ‘used’ one as there are many out there with some nice discounts off of MSRP to be had and with great options.

I don't know about ordering one, but a MB dealer in Denver offered me $6K off MSRP on a 2019 GTR they had on the floor.

You may want to reach out to this MB dealer. I have worked with them in the past. They are a forum sponsor.

And the GTR looks better in my opinion (and maybe this members as well)
Surge - You jump in a lot of threads seemingly to convince people to not buy GTRs. This is a strange thing to do. I’ve been on various car forums for the better part of 15yrs and I cannot recall coming across this.
Fella with a GTR stole a lady friend?

Also agree on the looks, the GT R is the better looking car, while the GT/S/C all get confused for one another.

Personally I prefer the 2020 interior and given the opportunity of almost the exact same car I’ll always by the newest one. Usually holds value longer. By a year

In your case, none of my business how you spend your hard earned cash, but to take a big depreciation hit on a 1 year old GTC, for a very very similar car... Not to mention the reports of the quieter exhaust (see recent post where someone claimed a 2017 GTS sounded louder than a 2020 GTR)... it doesn’t make much sense. But that’s just me I suppose.

Look, obviously I love the GT line - especially the GTR which is at the top and very close to my GTC. I could have bought a GTR but went with a GTC for very specific reasons. And I want to share those to help other potential owners. I think some/most buyers don’t really consider the pros and cons of the GTR and just buy it. As mentioned in one of my earlier posts (which I see you didn’t quote) - if you track your car at least a few times a year, the GTR is the clear choice.

GTR really depreciate like nothing else. 2 years old with less than 10k miles are going for $115-135k which is insane. My dealer offered me 6% of the custom order 2020, but given how they loose their value 6% is nothing considering 9% sales tax on top..

Thanks for the thorough and well formatted summary of some of my posts!

I really believe the GTs will hold their value over the long term. But selling a lightly used one now is the worst from a depreciation standpoint. In 10 years I think a GTC will be ~$100-$120K with a GTR being $10-$20K more, and a GTS being $10-$20K less, and the values should stay there.
Dealers couldn't move the SLS in its last 1-2 years of production - at least in Canada they were offering $10K off MSRP... Now look where they are.

Ive had my GTC confused for a GTR more than once.
