New GT owner and a question
Hi, been a long term owner of an SL550 and just traded it in on a 1 year old AMG GT roadster that will be my daily for the next few years.
I will post pictures and specs when the car arrives in the next few days, the spec is good but is missing the illuminated door sills that I like.
Does anyone know if I could retrofit these, ie is the wiring and switching in place?
Thanks and looking forward to being a contributing member on this forum.

NO the only optional door sill is the carbon fiber door sill which I happen to have. IT is NOT lighted. On the plus side my 18 GTC has the mirrors that project AMG onto the ground when you walk up to the car.

The GT has the illuminated door sills as an option while the GTC has them included by default. I like the Carbon door sills but assumed those would be lighted as well but I guess not.
In typical MB fashion, the car would be pre-wired as it is part of a harness, but the connector might or might not be it its right place. Door sills are easy to buy at the dealer or MB parts dealers online and the sills are typically just attached via double sided tape or in some cases snaps.

Interesting. I never say those as an option when I was looking for my 18 GTC. Just the carbon fiber ones.

Just checked the sills on mine to see if I could find an easily available connector, but the sills are held on by double sided trim tape, and I don't want to have to get more to re-apply, so someone who's already messed with theirs will have to chime in on whether or not it's an easy swap.

They should be able to be added on. I suggest to research this yourself and get the part number since most dealers parts departments will not do much to actually look for something. Many illuminated sills kits will fit numerous cars, but for the most part it should be a fairly simple installation.
