This was my biggest nightmare when I lived in Chicago....how horrible would it be if you car got a million acne scars from pelting hail....what a waste of a car because a lot of the times cars are totaled out...

Brings back nightmares and I'm still paranoid to this day of dark (greenish/gray) clouds in general. Lived in Denver for 20 years and saw my fair share of hail. As a matter of fact, first brand new car I ever owned was a 1991 Subaru Legacy station wagon. Got it right before our first was born. I watched it get destroyed by hail two days later. I'm talking golf ball size hail.

Ya you are way up. I am in Sarasota I cannot even remember the last time I saw that here. Even thou it is not that far south of you.

Reminds me a time back in 1990 when my dad just picked up a brand new Infiniti Q45, a fabulous car at the time, only BMW 750i with it's V12 had more power then it (even MB did not have anything stronger, 560SEL had only about 240HP in US).
We were all looking it over when it started raining all of a sudden, car was on my driveway, garage was full and like you, we were powerless watching it getting absolutely demolished by 2 inch diameter sized hail.
Most of the home roofs in the neighborhood were severely damaged too.

Update. Took a trip to the Hyundai dealer in Cocoa. There were tons of cars with this damage. Most was on the flat surfaces facing the sky. Didn't really see any side panel damage on any of the cars.

I have a buddy in the insurance parts business.
The invisible bump and dent guys will head to the midwest during Hail season and set up.
They work a few months and make enough to take the rest of the year off.
