Jack Points

When using a floor jack to put your car on jack stands, do you use the same place as the car jack or somewhere else on the frame? I know it sounds a little silly, but dont want to do any damage. I use the frame on my other cars. Thanx all

I've used the jack points with a piece of hard rubber in the cup of the floor Jack.

A related question to jacking--on Airmatic cars, is there anything to disable/set prior to taking the load off of those air springs? Some manufacture's air suspension requires one to disable the system, so I figure I double check. Thanks.

When lifting from the front you can use this lift point on the middle. This is where I lifted it from doing my airmatic pump.

Also you might want to modify your jack by hacksawing of the ears of it so that it mates nicely with the recessed area :

here's what the jack pads look like. Using a regular jack stand will put too much pressure on the sides and collapse them after time. ( ask me how I know. The guy who owned my s550 before me did exactly that so I replaced mine). Not only that but it wont be stable

For the front jack point you dont even need anything special. Just get a jack with a cup big enough to have the whole entire pad on it. I use this from harborfreight.

It has a little lip that snags the lifting pad in case it slides. By putting one of those puck style adapters you risk it slipping off in my opinion. As for the jackstands the main thing is you want it to be narrow enough to mate into the recess of the jack pad. If its too wide and hits the walls then no bueno and cut it. heres a nice jackstand for it but i was too cheap to buy it lmao.

If it mates nicely youre good. I do like the plastic covering for the jackstands though

and dont forget our car is over 4000 lbs you want a beefy jack not like the one in that pic. Too small in my opinion

2.5 ton is the minimum 3 ton if you can

For years I have used a jack with a bit of a recessed 'cup' (just like the Harbor Freight one posted)

Just dropped a hockey puck in and it does a great job.

I have been using this for 15 years on S classes (126/140/220/221), GL, and SL. Works perfectly on all.

No slipping (the puck is contained by the rim of the 'cup') and it's hard rubber so wont' damage the car.

I have even lifted cars by the (reinforced) seam weld and it doesn't bend.. the rubber deforms a bit and that works just fine.

Nick.. It looks like you have some rubber on the FloorJack plate? Doesn't the plastic on the body mash down on the Jackstand body?

The front liftpad is a solid block of hard plastic that is attached to the front cross member
