Passport 8500 x50... its not what u think
i already have the x50... i have my radar on expert mode so it shows all available radars in the area... ok, but i read the radar can show up to 2 Ka, 2 K, and 2 X all at the same time? if so, can someone tell me how this works?
like i have seen my radar show X then 4 bars next to it... so im just wondering exactly how to read my radar... http://www.palcoelectronics.com/i1005778.jpg there is a pic of one, if that helps? thanks |

Are you telling us that the manual doesn't explain it? :D

fine... i got the manual from my car... just in case u guys r lazy... PICTURE: KA || k || x |||| (yea i typed it out) "As you can see, there are vertical lines after each band designator. Each line shows a signal being detected. The height of each line shows the relative signal strength of that signal." -- the manual :hammer: |
If your detector is showing "X" and 4 bars next to it, then you're not in expert mode - you're in standard mode.
Enter the programming function - hold both top buttons Scroll down to mode > change to expert. Leave it to log out of the programming function. The idle screen will remain the same; but when you encounter radar it will display up to 2x KA, 2x K, or 2x X bands. POP and Laser will remain the same (no signal strength shown) |
solution for me would be:
sell junk detector. buy valentine one. problem solved. |

The Valentine One is the best radar/laser detector on the market today.

The Spectre III is the most used RDD in the world and it can only pick up the Valentine One if it is 166 feet or closer which is better than the X50 which can be detected 954 feet away. http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...383&highlight= The Valentine One which accounts for only .6% of radar detector sales wins every poll when it comes to being the favorite detector. The X50 doesn't even get an approval rating as high as George Bush's worst rating. http://www.radardetector.net/The-Ult.......-5523t.php Which of the "Big 3" is really the best overall - in your opinion? He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser. http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...=4696&start=90 Radar Roy said, "There were results that they (Guys of Lidar) got during the test that I was not exactly pleased with, such as the discovery of the Blinder not having Stealth Mode installed and the Valentine beating out the Escort and Bel in the range tests. Even though I don’t sell the Valentine, it does have slightly better range than both the RX65 and the 8500 and I also show this same fact on my site. Would love it to be the other way around." Here is a link and video of the V1 alerting to radar quicker than the X50 and sometimes the X50 didn't alert to the radar at all. They are quick pulling the radar gun's trigger and the X50 is filtering it out and the V1 is picking it up every time. http://www.radardetector.net/V1-vs.-...otout-865t.php http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZmQzMXk1NDE%3D V1 wins in POP detection: http://media.putfile.com/JammerTestscom_tests_V1X50_POP V1 wins because it detects a certain laser gun in stealth mode while the X50 remains silent: http://media.putfile.com/JammerTests...nd_X50_stealth |
I have a V1 with the updated software. I don't really need it now because my job as a detective has its advantage. However I do use it when I am off duty going to Chicago to pick my sons up. I just don't like to flash my badge and ask for favor.

Old thread but who cares, I'm bored.
Just thought I'd give Radarking the SAME link I used to counter his obsession with the useless V1, that was discussed in a similar thread a while back. It's fun to start ****.:) http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=9090 |

Why use expert mode in the first place? Just put the meter back in standard mode and slow down when it goes off. I just went from an 8500 to a Solo cordless (anyone want to buy a used 8500?). I have used Escort radar detectors since the old black box and have always been satisfied. I've read the reviews on the Valentine and would have bought one except I really wanted to get rid of the cig lighter cord and didn't want to do a permanent wiring installation. IMHO, if you pay attention while driving, almost any detector will save you. Unless of course you get tagged by laser in which case almost nothing will save you.

well who knows if that's true, because it's obviously biased for valentine, as well. |
