i believe on the earlier clk the CAN distributor is tucked behind the carpet in the sill... you would pull up the sill plate, pull back the carpet and then the plastic wire cover and it should be all the way towards the front. there should be a distributor on each side but that may not be the case with all models/trim levels. the driver side will definately have it though...

..........thanks. I have looked on both sides and no CCANBUS distributor. I have a 2000 CLK 320. Very strange. I know tht it is somewhere, but I cannot find it in he usual locations. There is a bock of red/brown/yellow wires that usually go to the CAN strip. In this case it goes to a block and there is no way to add modules to it. It does not look like a CAN strip.

the only other possibility is that you have an early production model that did not use the standard CAN distributors that all the models now use. in that case you can just grab the CAN wires anywhere, clip the connector and solder them.

one more thing... if you do have the connector that is pictured but its full then you need to get a second distributor from parts plus an extension cable. alternately you can tap in at the rear distributor (thats a PITA, though).

i double checked and it shows that you should at least have one located under the passenger side sill.. (see attached pic). you may have to pull things up and dig way down...

hmm.. you might want to call mods4cars and double check compatibility... i can say that your w208 uses different CAN ID numbers for lots of different stuff on your vehicle including the steering wheel buttons. a module designed for the newer models will not correctly unless they have taken this into account.

..........you are quite right. The reason i opted t do this is because someone posted a successful installation in a 2002 C32. The C32 shares similar electrnics with W208 and w210. All are D2b cars. However, I d think that I have purchased the module fr the newer cars. As you know ther are several mod4cars modules that look the same. I have e-mailed Jgsx, the member with the C32 to find out which of the modules he purchased.
