2003 CL55 Satellite Radio Solutions?

Are there any aftermarket solutions to add preferably XM or secondarily SIRIUS, to my lovely 2003 CL55?

Right now, I just use FM modulation or the aux jack in the glove box with the unit laying on the pax seat, and powered by the lighter socket. Classy, huh?

I really do like XM and would probably go for almost any clean, nice installation. I would pay more that I should, but not crazy money (in excess of $1000....)

I believe it is starting with the 2004 cars.

I'm told you could have ordered a car with SIRIUS in 2003, but you can't retrofit one. I would love to find out this is incorrect.

.............can you post a picture of your comand. I think you are getting the wrong info. At least I know that even for 2004 and newer cars, the Sirius satelite radio is a dealer installed option. Mercedes does not install it in Germany.

If the suggestions above don't work out for you, the Dension Gateway 500, which has a frequent use in iPod integration, has AUX inputs as well. An aftermarket solution for either is possible using these inputs. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...tallation.html and https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...88#post2234888

I do believe for 2004 and newer, it IS a dealer installed option. Unfortunately, my car is a 2003. At least that is what the salesman in Daytona told me. I'll stop by my local dealer today and get it from the local "horse's mouth".

Thanks for the input...you too, SKYLAW.

..........I have checked on this. It was always a dealer installed option. Your car either can or cannot have MB sirius radio. If it can, then it gets installed by the dealer. If it can't then you need an aftermarket option.

Unfortunately the 2003 Cl55 is a d2b car and the Sat option became available with the 2004's with the MOST system.

AND unfortunately the salesman who stated that it was a dealer installed option is full of S@it.

It can be installed DIY as most of the CL and S class cars starting in 2004 are already prewired for sirius.

Also the 2004 C and CLK cars with comand and all (US) of them are prewired even if they don't have comand.

the 2004 E class is another SAT ready car but you have to have command.

You only have to purchase the Kit which runs about $500.00 which consist of the SAT module, mounting bracket, a fuse and some misc. cables. Then you go in and version code the car and you are done.

I know this is not much help to you with your 2003 CL, but I just wanted to share that.
