2003+ Navigation CD's

FYI, all the new wide screen CD Navigation systems in 2003+ model Mercedes use a new type of CD Navigation Map data. This data is referred to as "DX". Therefore if you have older (Made before 2002) Navigation CD's, they WILL NOT work in the newer wide screen units. I beleive the DX CD's are backwards compatible with the older CD based Navigation systems however.

any changes on the new DX type CD's??

Is it worth getting them using comand 2.0??

thanks in advanced.

Jay, you're already using a "DX" CD. As a matter of fact, just about everyone I know uses a DX CD. It's possible that I have never seen anything BUT DX CDs, because they were de rigeur since my 2001 CLK55.

I still have some non DX CD's...they were used in the non CANBUS comands...up to 1999...but the DX CD's work in those older comands as well...

Not too sure... I know that all my older Nav CD's (Pre-2002) DO NOT WORK on the new nav. My 7/00 and 7/01 release will not work. the 7/02 release works however.

2000 COMAND - No exact addresses???

Hi, does anyone know whether there is some sort of upgrade to get my 2000 S430's COMAND system to take me to an exact street address? Right now it only takes me to the "block". I was hoping that a newer CD (the one I have is from 07/00) would do the trick, but someone told me it still wouldn't help.

If possible, please send email to me at: ronhite@aol.com. I have limited ability to view this site.

Thanks!

Ron

I have an '03 C320 with a 2002 (most recent) COMAND CD-ROM (type DX, by the way). It works the same way. Unfortunately, there is no way to enter an exact address, only a range as you mentioned. Frustrating, I know. After using it a few times, it does seem to get you "close enough" though.

I just keep thinking about all the Hertz rental cars I've had with their NeverLost navigation system, which of course allows entry of exact addresses. Pretty sad Mercede's COMAND is inferior to Hertz NeverLost with this functionality, hunh?

S class latest disc?

What is the latest updated disc for a 2000 S500? I thought it would be 7-02, but local dealer said they just received a shipment of 7-01 discs.
Thanks

I called up MBUSA last night and they said 7-02 is the latest for my car (C32). I think it uses the same CDs.

By the way, they also said I did not get one free update - only MBs with the first COMAND (2000) get a free upgrade. I have to buy my CD at the dealer (boo!)
