ipod and/or bluetooth in a 2003 s55?
I am trying to help my mom hook up her new iphone to her s55. It is the last year before the navigation system got upgraded.
What options are available?
Is upgrading to the newer nav and putting the old one on ebay a reasonable option? Then investigating kits available for the 2004 and up?
I've poked around and have seen a little on the dice and itronic kits, and videos on youtube by technicar. Anyone know about any of those too?

Why would you start changing the navi if all you want is iPhone connectivity? If the car needs a better navigation device, put that to a separate thread.

Also, you can connect an iPhone to a Gateway 500 iPod integration kit and play music. See https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-electronics/194660-gateway-500-most-o-good-unit-poor-documentation.html, but read carefully; the car's fiber optics bus is D2b, and you will not get all of the features I have discussed for the MOST version.
The car also has an AUX jack on the left side of the glove compartment. A G3 iPhone (the newest one) can be connected ising a standard 3.5mm (3/8") stereo connector. The original iPhone requires a special cable that will fit into the recessed jack in the iPhone; Apple stores sell them.

Hey skylaw what do you mean by the jack in the glove compartment i tried using the jack with my 3g iphone but i didnt know what to do there on in.

The '03 W220 - and only the '03 model year - has the jack on the left side, inside the glove compartment. It permits music playback for anything that uses a 3.5mm audio jack.
It will allow music playback from a iPhone, but will not allow use as a cell phone. For that you need a Bluetooth setup. It will also not permit music selection from the steering wheel controls (it will allow control of volume).
You must also select "AUX" as the input source for COMAND, to use it.
