W220 controlling instrument cluster via CAN?

The BWM guys have gathered enough CAN protocol details to drive their instrument clusters via CAN - like here

I wonder if anyone has done the same with a W220 cluster or if anyone has the packets IDs and data formats etc?

Instrument clusters are the perfect devices to play with CAN and I happen to have a W220 cluster on my bench :)

navtv.com and midcityengineering.com can do it.

Oh, I am sure Mercedes also knows how to do this, but that would be little help for me.

I was wondering if anyone has sniffed the CAN bus and maybe figured out at least some message IDs and data packet format? Like for instance on e46 0x153 message has speed and 0x316 has RPM data.

again, yes, both mid city and navtv have developed gear for this, for instance mid city's remote starts have a count down display on the ML/GL/R and the escort radar detector interface shows up on the cluster

Sure, so what is the message ID for RPM signal?

are you asking me? I could care less what it is, ask them. here is a video of their cluster display

Good luck getting any answers out of MidCity Engineering, they don't even have the courtesy to respond to emails about this. Not even a "Sorry" email, they just completely ignore you. Total ass holes.

I plan on learning some of this information on my own car soon, and when I do, I will be sure to post it here. Information like this was meant to be free.
