Cell phone gurus please help!

OK phone gurus, I am in need of advice. I currently have ATT GSM services and am very pleased with the coverage. I also have 3 Nokia 6200 phones already in the family and like having to carry only one charger on vacations, etc. I am looking for another Nokia GSM phone. The question is which one will work best with the new MB electronics in the 209, 230 (haven't decided which convertable to buy) and 211 chassis? I've heard that the 6330 works with MB Command and steering wheel controls but the phone is kind of large and outdated, no? Are there any other Nokias that can be made to work?

Thanks in advance,
Greg

Your only choice is the nokia 6310i tri band GSM phone. I have it in my c Class and it works great with Cingular, T mobile, and ATT. You'll have to get the car kits for these phones from Steve. Or, if you have some extra cash, you can buy the UHI universal handy interface from Steve. It works with Siemens, Motorola, and Nokia.

Thanks sunman. The 6310 was the phone I was thinking of in my post. This is the one that works with the steering wheel controls and voice command dialing, right?

yes you are correct. It works with all functions of the car including steering wheel, voice control, Comand Display, muting radio when phone comes in, etc....Teh US cars have a CDMA antenna and I used a seperate Hirschmann GSM antenna for the install for better reception. It helped a little.

Thanks again for the info. Does UHI work differently than the current US wiring? Are there other Nokias that will work with UHI?

You need a new cradle and a new PSE unit that fits in the trunk if you want to switch to a Nokia.

The nokia will work fine in US cars without any modifications to the Wire Harness. The UHI fits in US cars as well without any mods as far as I know. As far as I know the only nokia that works with the UHI is 6310i as of now. They may expand later. Everytime you switch phones, you will have to change the cradle only and not the PSE. UHI - "Steve"

Can someone please post contact information for the "steve" who is referred to above. I am thinking of putting in UHI if I can get my hands on the parts.
